MARINES ATTACKED IN BERKELEY, CA

City Calls Marines “Unwelcome Intruders”

SAN FRANCISCO – The City of Berkeley, California has passed two resolutions attacking the United States Marine Corps, calling the Marines, “uninvited and unwelcome intruders in the city.”

The Berkeley City Council voted to condemn the Marines on Tuesday night (January 29th) as part of a campaign by anti-war activists to shut down a U.S. Marine Recruiting Center located in the city of Berkeley.

The votes by the Berkeley City Council were immediately condemned by Move America Forward (website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org), the nation’s largest grassroots pro-troop organization.

“It is disgraceful that in the birthplace of the Free Speech Movement, anti-military activists would attempt to silence the same military men and women who serve this country and give their lives to protect the free speech rights of all Americans, including these ungrateful and despicable people on the Berkeley City Council,” said Melanie Morgan, Chairman of Move America Forward.

The actions by the Berkeley City Council followed continuous protests by Code Pink and other anti-military organizations that vandalized and defaced the U.S. Marine Recruiting Center in September 2007.

One of the two resolutions passed by the Berkeley City Council last night granted a parking spot in front of the Marine Recruiting Center to be used by anti-military activists to harass Marine recruiters. The anti-military activists would not need to apply for a sound permit for the next six months – allowing them free reign to disrupt the day-to-day operations by the Marines.

Move America Forward organized a counter-protest in support of the Marines last October that attracted over 400 pro-troop supporters who stood in solidarity of the Marine Recruiting Center.

“We have hundreds of thousands of military men and women serving honorably overseas to protect our freedoms. Imagine how they feel when they go to turn on the news and see that they are being stabbed in the back by shameful people here at home, it’s disgraceful!” said Catherine Moy, Executive Director of Move America Forward.

The Berkeley City Council voted 8-1 to tell the Marines that its Shattuck Avenue recruiting station “is not welcome in the city, and if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome intruders.” They also voted to officially ENCOURAGE Code Pink to disrupt the work of the Marines there by protesting in front of the station. Councilman Gordon Wozniak is the only one who voted no on both items.

As we all know, this isn’t the first or only time that Berkeley and/or other enclaves that encourage the suppression of any ideas, ideals, thoughts or speech that doesn’t match theirs in every way has tried to beat up on the military. Its a pretty cowardly attack seeing as they can be pretty well assured that the Marines won’t slap them back. They are better disciplined than to be aggressive towards those who are obviously so much weaker.

The worst the Marines can do to Berkeley is to actually leave and let them fend for themselves.

What a bunch of children. Maybe California really will slide off into the ocean.

CAIRO, Egypt - One al-Qaida’s top commanders in Afghanistan, Abu Laith al-Libi was killed in Afghanistan, a Web site used by militant groups said Thursday.

Al-Libi was a key link between the Taliban and al-Qaida. He led and al-Qaida training camp and appeared in a number of Internet videos. The U.S. says he was likely behind the February 2007 bombing at the U.S. base at Bagram in Afghanistan during a visit by Vice President Dick Cheney. The attack killed 23 people.

While the claim could not be verified independently, the announcement of his death appeared as a banner in a section of the Web site reserved for affiliated militant organizations, according to the Washington-based SITE Institute which monitors such sites.

“As the banner was posted … by a webmaster of the forum, it seems as if the announcement of his death has been confirmed to the forum administrators,” SITE said in an e-mail to news organizations.

Apology and Fair Treatment in Future Debates

(Manassas, VA) The new independent website, www.UltimateRonPaul.com, has launched a petition to protest the treatment of Congressman Ron Paul on last night’s Republican debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

CNN, The Politico, and The Los Angeles Times—the debate sponsors—invited Ron Paul to participate. But then the moderator, CNN’s Anderson Cooper, snubbed Paul and cut him off from participating in most of the debate. Paul was allowed only a couple of “cameo” appearances.

“Anderson Cooper’s style of ‘managed news’ belongs in Russia or China, not the U.S.,” says David Franke, Editor of UltimateRonPaul.com.

The petition adds: “Even the reporters for one of the sponsors, The Los Angeles Times, noted how Ron Paul was “often left out.”

The petition to the debate sponsors demands an apology to Congressman Paul, the barring of CNN’s Anderson Cooper from moderating any future debates, and inclusion and fair treatment for Ron Paul in the future.

“Can’t the U.S. media do better?” the petition asks.

Every time I hear Ron Paul speak all I hear is whining. I have heard that the only reason he has been included in the debates with the top tier candidates is because his supporters did with the networks what they do on the internet - which is to swarm, spam, whine and agitate until they get their way. So the powers that be with the debates allowed him to be included just to get the spammers off their backs.

Apparently that wasn’t good enough. Now they are demanding he have more face time. They are whining that he wasn’t given equal time in the debate last night and are circulating the above petition in that regard.

You might have noticed that the online polls inevitably show Paul as winning every debate by a huge margin. That’s because his swarmers apparently have nothing to do other than to run up those polls and run around the internet leaving comments in every post about Paul and Digging every story they like about him and voting for it till its on the front page of Digg.

Now apparently they are going to harangue the networks until they give Ron Paul his own show. He could just debate himself I guess.

The Hip Hop Mayor of the Motor City Detroit Michigan Keeps getting caught in one scandel after another, why wont you guys just leave Kwame alone!! He’s a Human….

If you keep up with Detroit politics - or just read a Detroit newspaper once in a while - then you are aware of the scandal that is currently dominating the Detroit news. It has to do with Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his lying under oath about using Detroit city funds and literally thousands of text messages to romance his Chief Of Staff Christine Beatty.

He has done what so many do when they get caught with their pants down (so to speak). He’s gone to a church to videotape a plea for the forgiveness of his constituents. Meanwhile, many of his constituents are not feeling particularly forgiving of their money being used to enhance the Mayor’s love life.

But there are a few that say LEAVE KWAME ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t think anyone will be paying to see John McCain singing any time soon, anymore than anyone will be wanting to hear any more of BaBa Streisand’s political views. Hopefully he’ll quit singing and she’ll quit pontificating on issues she is ill-informed about. BTW, I’ve heard that Streisand demands to have rose petals in her toilet bowl. Its hard to take someone seriously who requires ‘her people’ to keep fresh rose petals in her toilet bowl.

Staff Sgt. Justin R. Whiting, a Special Forces medical sergeant sustained fatal wounds when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive devise 16 kilometers south of Mosul, Iraq.

He is survived by his mother, Estelline, of Colorado Springs, Colo., father, Randall, of Hancock, N.Y., sister, Amanda, of DuPont, Wash., and brother Nathan of Dover, Tenn.

A group of six British muslims who have built up a terrorists cell in Birmingham are at trial for their plot to kidnap a muslim soldier and behead him ‘like a pig’. They planned to film the attack in order to put panic and fear in the ranks of the British military and public.

This same group has raised and sent money and equipment to Pakistan to be used by terrorists in attempts to kill British soldiers on the Afghan border.

Prosecutor Nigel Rumfitt QC said Khan wanted to get “physically involved” in the bloodshed but was prevented by “his bosses overseas” because his supply operation was so valued.

Instead, the court heard, he hatched the plot to kill a soldier in the UK.

He decided to target a Muslim fighting in the British Army and asked another member of the cell to identify a potential victim.

Mr Rumfitt said: “The prosecution say that Parviz Khan is a fanatic.

“He is a man who has the most violent and extreme views. Khan was enraged by the idea that there were Muslim soldiers in the British Army, some of them from the Gambia in West Africa.

“He decided to kidnap such a soldier with the help of drug dealers in Birmingham.

“The soldier would be approached in the Broad Street nightlife area, lured into a car and taken to a lock-up garage and murdered with his head cut off - “like a pig”.

“This atrocity would be filmed. They would have the soldier’s military card to prove who he was.”

The court heard that the film would be released through Khan’s terrorist network to the Al Jazeera TV station.
