Utah Army National Guard Sgt. Jill Stevens, who is competing in the Miss America Pageant as Miss Utah, plays with children while serving as a medic in Afghanistan in 2004.
Army Sergeant Jill Stevens, otherwise known as G.I. Jill, is Miss Utah 2007 and will be competing in the Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas on January 26th. I ordinarily don’t watch the beauty pageants, but I might have to make an exception for this one.
Sgt. Stevens is a combat medic and a member of the Utah National guards 1st Battalion, 211th Aviation Regiment. She travels the country giving motivational speeches and talking to groups about emergency preparedness. She is credited with helping to break the stereotypes of women in the military by reminding the groups she speaks to that women in the military are still women.
