DO NOT MESS WITH OLD DUDES WHO ARE US MILITARY VETERANS …..
BEDFORD, TX — If this story sounds familiar, it’s because it’s happened nine different times.
Last Friday night was the latest incident. Someone is being unusually persistent in trying to prevent a Bedford man who happens to be a veteran from flying the American flag in front of his house.
The relentless thief or thieves took down 87 year old Archie Mayes’ flag along with the pole, and then took it a step further — the thief used the pole to break a window in his workshop but didn’t take anything.
Mayes set up a video camera last October after the thefts started but so far, the tape hasn’t led to any suspects.
The retired Air Force brigadier general usually takes the flag in every night but noticed Friday around 10:30 p.m. that it was gone. He found it on the side of his house.
After the 8th theft, Mayes expressed his frustration.
‘If you really want to know how I feel - If I had a shotgun with buck shot in it, I’d have shot him in the butt,’ Mayes said. ‘And I wouldn’t have any hesitation.’
From the video, Mayes said he thinks the same person is behind the thefts, according to FOX 4’s Fil Alvarado.
Mayes turned over the video to Bedford police who are investigating.
I’m telling you, messing with these old guys can be deadly. I wonder if these young punks who keep messing with these guys have a clue as to how deadly these guys are!!! I don’t think so. They probably think they are easy marks because they are old and the punks don’t have a clue how tough these guys had to be to live in the generation they lived in.
I’d like to see Brigadier General Archie Mayes go after the flag stealing punk with some buckshot. THAT would be worth seeing!
