Bolton said it was now clear that he would be the nominee, and specifically addressed those who argue that conservatives would be better off in the long run if Democrats win and mess things up than if mistakes are associated with a Republican. He compared this logic to Vladimir Lenin’s declaration that “worse is better†and said that “tactical domestic considerations†shouldn’t be allowed to harm our national security.
Some suggest that Bolton is positioning himself for a position as Secretary of Defense. I doubt it. I think he is genuinely concerned for our national security as he has shown himself to be in the past.
Hot Air notes that Bolton’s credentials will carry more weight than those of the Ann Coulters of the world.

Although I would love to have John Bolton as Secretary of Defense I just can’t see how his confirmation could make it through a Democratic congress. His confirmation was impossible when the Republicans were in charge, I’m certain he’s under no delusions as to what his chances will be after the 2008 elections.

Bolton is a very fine man.
I hope you’ll alert your visitors to Jack Kelly’s excellent pro-McCain article in Sunday’s Toledo and Pittsburgh newspapers. It’s available at: http://post-gazette.com/forum. I’ll have a column on Monday entitled: “Clinton & Obama: Two Phonies,” which will be accessible at: http://camp2008victorya.blogspot.com. Comment are always welcome. Good luck with your blog. I’ll try to visit with some regularity.
