I cringed when I heard the clip of Obama trying to sound like he knew something about the military. I think that anyone who does know anything about the military was probably equally appalled … or laughing.
The points he was trying to make were bizarre. As has been pointed out in numerous places, a Captain doesn’t command a platoon. Obama has answered that challenge by saying that … well … the Captain in question was a Lieutenant at the time of the incident he was relating and the incident happened several years ago. I’m imagining that someone at some point let him know how messed up his story was and how foolish he appeared.
The problem is, of course, it doesn’t matter. He was talking to his followers who are no better informed than he is. They don’t know and don’t care that the story doesn’t hold water. It just validated everything they want to believe to be true about the military and this war. Obama knows that people who are familiar with the military as a general rule have respect for the military and the men and women who serve our country. He knows that we aren’t the people who will elect him into office so our opinion of him doesn’t matter. He also knows that his worshipers will worship him even more for his derogatory remarks towards the military and will not believe anyone who tries to point out how pathetically inaccurate his story is.
Two things about that bothered me the most. The first is that anyone who aspires to be Commander in Chief of our Armed Forces should have at least a rudimentary understanding of the structure of our Armed Forces and how they operate. Actually, they should have much more than a rudimentary understanding, but Obama didn’t even exhibit the most elementary understanding. Someone with that little bit of knowledge and obvious lack of respect for the military has no business being Commander in Chief.
The second thing that bothered me is that a candidate for the Presidency of the United States got on national television and telegraphed to the world that our military is weak, ill equipped and poorly prepared. At its best that is irresponsible, at its worst it is dangerous. It is certainly not true.
Amy Proctor has taken Obama to task for his irresponsible statements and has done some excellent point by point fact checking. You might want to go over there and lend her some support as she’s being over run by Obama disciples whose only interest is in defending Obama rather than in finding out the truth and doing what is best for our country.
I am willing to bet that Obama will not approach a military issue in a debate with John McCain!

Obama, Oral Sex and Cocaine - None of Our Business…
If we continue on this path of demanding that our leaders be perfect, then one day we will be forced to elect a bona fide Saint, and that road leads to Hell.

I love the part where Hillary’s listening intently, then her eyes suddenly jerk away, like, “Huh? That made no sense.” She’s nobody’s fool and knows when someone’s talking out his rear.
