We just had to have some surgery done on our Doberman and it was expensive. Its a hard call to me about veterinarian care for our pets. They are loved members of our family, at the same time its not like they are human and throwing thousands of dollars towards veterinarian fees is difficult at times. I know that’s probably not a very nice thing to write, but I figure if they are not in pain and the care isn’t critical than I have to step back and think about spending the money. On the other hand, I wouldn’t hesitate to spend what is necessary if they are in pain and the surgery would significant contribute to their quality of life.

I’m not saying that well, hopefully you know what I mean. There are just limits to what I’m willing to spend on the animals and it depends on the circumstances that they are in. We have had to choose between having long term treatment of animals and putting them down. Those are difficult decisions to make. In the case of the recent surgery of our Doberman it was a matter of some tumors growing on him that were benign. They didn’t seem to be interfering with him but he grows them like he’s a growing machine. I’ve told my husband many times that I wish there was such a thing as pet insurance.

Imagine my surprise when I was surfing the web earlier and discover that there is, indeed, pet insurance! Its in the UK, but still it does exist. I found it at a site that helps to hook you up with the best prices for all sorts of insurance coverage. In addition to pet insurance they help find the best prices for truck insurance, caravan insurance, courier insurance, bike insurance and more. Who knew?
