My doctor has gone to an electronic medical records system. She comes into the room with her laptop and can pull up all my records. Its good and its bad. She knows immediately if I haven’t been to get tests run that she’s ordered and doesn’t hesitate to tell me. When I first started going to this doctor she prescribed me some meds. When I left the office I realized I had not gotten the prescription. I called the doctor’s office and was told they send the prescription to the pharmacy electronically. I felt silly at that point, but went to the pharmacy and sure enough, they had the prescription.
All of that is well and good and I thought it certainly made things more simple to have my medical records, medical history, medications and anything else right there at the tip of my doctor’s fingers. I didn’t think about it any further until I went to another doctor for a yearly checkup. He walked into the office with a laptop. He pulled up my history, medications, etc on his laptop and that whole exam went much more quickly and easily than it has in the past. At that point it occurred to me how convenient and easy it is when doctors across the network have access to medical records. If I were to have to go to the emergency room, they would be able to tell my medical history and medications immediately reducing the chances of errors and miscommunication.
The software for that sort of extensive network program has to be bug free for obvious reasons. That’s why you need a company you can rely on with a history of quality work to produce the software. VirMedice is just such a company! They have created electronic medical records software to assist medical facilities in storing and maintaining patient files in an easy electronic method.
