I love conference calls! Well, I can’t say that I love conference calls at it were, but love that we can do conference calls as opposed to meetings so much of the time now. I know there is a real value to meeting in person. You can see body language and facial expressions. But I can’t tell you how many days have been taken up to attend a one or two hour meeting. I live in Atlanta, so I have to devote an entire day to a meeting if it happens to be on the other side of town. Many people have moved their meetings to towns in other areas of Georgia to reduce the congestion in Atlanta. Even with that, a lunch meeting is an all day event. I have often had to weight out the value of the meeting against the time I’ve had to spend on the road and away from my other duties to decide whether or not to attend.
