I realize he is dead now but his company knows how to put out fires like this one. Look what they did in Kuwait after Saddam set all their oil wells on fire. All they need is a very large supply of liquid Nitrogen and spray Nitrogen gas into the hole and the fire will go out when the Oxygen is eliminated. Then they need to make sure they don't have any sparks or other source of flames present or the fire will just start back up.
