Chris Matthews enjoyed putting this guy on the spot about who Neville Chamberlain was and what he did. See the video.

This is sad. There are people like Chris Matthews who enjoy the idea of having Barack Obama as President so much that they will redefine history in order to get him elected. He and his comrades who are so intent on seeing Obama elected are scrambling like crazy to get their definition of appeasement out to the public before people can figure out what the President was talking about in Israel today.

Matthews makes a distinction between giving things away to the enemy and talking to the enemy. Apparently in his view as long as you don’t try to negotiate by giving away then you aren’t an appeaser. It always amazes me that the liberal democrats are so comfortable with redefining words. Its patriotic to NOT wear a lapel pin now. Stomping on the American Flag is a show of respect for America.

Matthews, who said that listening to Obama sent ‘tingles up his legs’ (definitely an image I didn’t want in my head!) will tell you that trying to talk to the enemy and negotiating is not appeasement and besides, that’s not what Obama meant anyway.

The problem is that it didn’t matter what Neville Chamberlain talked about or offered when he tried to negotiate with Adolph Hitler in 1938. It didn’t matter because they didn’t want the same things. If Hitler had wanted peace, then Chamberlain offering Hitler parts of Europe in exchange for peace might have worked (except for those parts of Europe he offered). Chamberlain naively believed that he and Hitler were on the same page. He was clueless as to the level of derangement and megalomania that Hitler was capable of. He didn’t realize how Hitler played him.

I think the comparison between Chamberlain and Obama is a legitimate comparison.
