Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael A. Monsoor was honored at the Republican National Convention this evening with a video tribute. You can see the tribute here and read more about him.
Michael Monsoor
I’ve written about Medal of Honor recipient, Michael Monsoor. He is one of four men to have received the Medal of Honor in the Global War on Terrorism. It is the highest military honor in the United States.
As I have written before, Monsoor sacrificed his own life saving his comrades in arms. A grenade hit him in the chest and fell to the ground in front of him. The men with him say that he never took his eye off the grenade as he lowered himself on top of it, absorbing its blast with his own body to save the other men who were with him.
It is encouraging that we still are a nation that produces true heroes. It is humbling to hear the story of one so young, who lived with such honor and died so heroically.
