I’m a Georgia Voter! I went and voted yesterday and am glad to have gotten it done.
For some reason, I went and voted on the last day to register to vote in Georgia. Not the wisest decision, but the lines weren’t too bad and they moved along fairly well. I wanted to vote early because we KNOW that the lines at the election polls are going to be outrageous on election day. Well, of course, I had a very good reason to vote early seeing as how I will be …. errrr … not able to on election day.
It was encouraging to see the election office workers sticking to the rules. Of course I had no reason to think they wouldn’t. There was a woman in front of me who kept explaining to everyone around her that she was registering her daughter who would be a first time voter. She explained it so often that it became a little odd. You know the saying, ‘Me thinks ye doth protest too much’.
When she got to the counter and gave over the papers to register her daughter, the poll worker asked her for a picture ID of her daughter. The woman said she didn’t have it and that her daughter didn’t have a picture ID. She argued with the woman behind the counter who eventually went and got another woman. They went back and forth for a while. Finally, the mother of the would-be voter said, ‘Well, I guess my daughter won’t be able to vote then’, in a rather huffy tone. The women said that wasn’t necessarily so. I heard them suggesting she go to her daughter’s school to get her drivers license before I was called back to sign for my own little voting card. I didn’t hear how it all worked out, but it did sound like they were going to make her bring some kind of identification before she could register her daughter.
You can get Georgia voting information at the State website. Including where to go to vote, how to get registered and how to use the electronic voting machines. You can download the absentee ballots from that website as well.
No excuses - get out and vote!

I will vote on Nov. 4th in Woodstock, GA.
I will risk waiting in a long line,
because then I can see and hear how my neighbors view the world.

Good point Marvin.
Although, I did hear and see a lot from the people in line. But its not the same as going to the polls.
