My daughter called me a while ago and said she could see the Camp Pendleton Fire from her apartment.

My daughter drove home from work in thick smoke that was coming from the Camp Pendleton fire. She sent me the photo below that she took from her car as she drove to her apartment. She wrote me later and told me that her apartment was smoky from the fire and that she could see the fire burning from her apartment.
The fire started about 3:30 pm (PT) on Wednesday afternoon. It had spread to about 1,000 acres by nightfall. It started in an area where the Marines on the base train in explosives disposal.
The golf course on the base has been evacuated. The fire is burning between the golf course and the airfields. As of this time, its not known if there are unexploded ordinances in the path of the fire.
As many of ten helicopters have been fighting the fire, but had to be grounded for the night. Ground crews are continuing to fight the fire. Ten Marine brush truck teams and 20 fire engines from various local departments are fighting the fire.
