Sarah Palin dropped the ceremonial first puck at the Philadelphia Flyers game today. Read about it below, see photos and a video of the event.
Sarah Palin dropped the ceremonial first puck at the Philadelphia Flyers’ game today. The game was the Flyers home opener against the New York Rangers. Cathy O’Connell of Erdenheim, Pennsylvania had won the team promotion for the ‘Ultimate Hockey Mom’. She joined the Palin women on the ice for the ceremony. They dropped the puck between Mike Richards and Rangers center and Alaskan native Scott Gomez.
The thing is, the crowd booed Palin. She walked out on the ice with her daughters Piper and Willow. They smiled and waved and there was a scattering of applause. But the applause was drowned out by the boos of the crowd and the loud music that was apparently intended to drown out the boos.
Of course, Palin knew it was coming in that bastion of hard core Democrats. She had stated earlier in the day that she would dress Piper in a Flyers jersey. “How dare they boo Piper!”, she had said jokingly.
But they did.
I have read about it on some of the liberal blogs. They are loving that Palin was booed. They are loving the Palin boos so much that they have completely overlooked that there were mixed responses. There WERE some clapping for her. Those blogs are saying they are outraged that the NHL would politicize the game by bringing her there to drop the puck. That argument loses its effectiveness when one considers the number of politicians who throw out the first ball at baseball games. I’m willing to bet that if Biden or Obama had been there, they wouldn’t have felt the same way.
I also saw videos today of people in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia protesting Palin. Most of the protesters were pro-choice advocates, anti-war protesters and the loudest were from unions.
I couldn’t help but wonder what the union people think that Obama is going to do for them. They might still have a union under his administration, but they won’t have a company to work for.

Typical liberals…attack the children. Ever notice that only one in a million liberals have any manners whatsoever ?
Politics should be put aside when little ones are around.

Typical liberals…attack the children.
Typical conservatives… try to use your children as a human shield.

When you say “I couldn’t help but wonder what the union people think that Obama is going to do for them. They might still have a union under his administration, but they won’t have a company to work for.” - people are ALREADY LOSING THEIR JOBS under this present administration and WHY WOULD John McCan’t be any different. There is a track record of McCan’t’s support for big business. i’ll take the “unknown” over the known ANY DAY.
And I was incensed that she used her children as a shield. I heard the boos - right at the get go. The author of this blog simply wants to ignore it and turn it into the typical, “well, if it were Obama or Biden…” well guess what - IT WASN’T! Keep gettin’ your news from FAUX NEWS station!!!
And Jo - you gonna tell me your side has manners - who was shouting “off with his head” and “kill ‘em” at McCan’t rallies… WAKE UP!

Glenn, just a little reminder that it was Clinton that signed the NAFTA agreement into law in 1993. That’s when jobs started flowing out of the country. Unions can’t save you from that. If the company can get cheaper labor in Mexico, they are going to go to Mexico. I’m not saying its right, I’m just saying that Obama isn’t going to save you from that. In fact, he’ll tax companies to the point they’ll be pouring out of the country. There won’t be jobs left.

The sound on my home theater system is far better than any flash video, and the boos were quickly drowned out by cheers. Of course, I watched it. I hate the Flyers. And friends who were there confirm (protesters in Pittsburgh? The game was in Filthadelphia, not Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh didn’t even play. It was the Flyers v. Rangers.)
However, these are Philly fans. They booed Santa Claus. Philly fans are the rudest scum on the planet. It’s amazing she got any cheers at all, much less as much as she did.
