Joe Wurzelbacher has become an overnight celebrity, now known nationally as ‘Joe the Plumber’. He was mentioned numerous times in tonights final presidential debate. Now everybody wants to know who this guy is and why the presidential candidates are vying for his vote.
Poor Joe Wurzelbacher got into a conversation with Barack Obama during Obama’s photo-op of going ‘door to door’ in Ohio to meet the people. Wurzelbacher, of Holland, Ohio, wasn’t buying what Obama was selling. I’m sure it surprised Obama a little that the average American had insightful questions about Obama’s policies. You know, Obama explains them at GREAT length repeatedly with the air of a man who believes that we Middle American’s are incapable of really ‘getting it’.
Meanwhile, Obama explained to Joe the Plumber, that he didn’t want to take away everything Joe had worked for over the years. He just wants to make sure that those ‘behind him’ have as much as he does. You know, spread the wealth around. Joe’s eyes got a little wider as Obama told him that. He probably was expecting a politicians spin, instead of Obama actually telling him that he WILL take his money. I know, Obama couched it in words he didn’t expect Joe to understand. But Joe understood. So did all the other Joes in the country.
“I’m gonna cut taxes a little bit more for the folks who are most in need and for the 5% of the folks who are doing very well - even though they’ve been working hard and I appreciate that – I just want to make sure they’re paying a little bit more in order to pay for those other tax cuts,” Obama told Joe.
“It’s not that I want to punish your success – I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you – that they’ve got a chance at success too.”
You see, Joe the Plumber is Joe Six Pack. He’s the guy that works hard, has talent, takes his lunch to work, loves his wife and kids and is reaching for the American dream. No one, no Joe’s the Plumbers or Joe’s six packs, want that dream taken away.
In that brief encounter with Joe the Plumber, Barack Obama exposed himself as the socialist he is. I don’t think he realized it at the time. But it exposed his Marxist ideology. His intention to take from small businesses and divide it amongst those who don’t have.
As Americans, we all want to make sure that those who can’t take care of themselves are taken care of. We don’t mind doing what needs to be done and pay our taxes and make charitable contributions to help see that is done. But we don’t like wealth redistribution. That’s a sure fired way of destroying the American dream.
Joe Wurzelbacher will be on Huckabee’s show on Saturday. It’ll be interesting to watch. I’m thinking the man deserves an invitation to the inauguration.

Every government tax is wealth redistribution. You’re paying your money to the government, who’s basically distributing it to other people.
What does the right stand for, now that it supports socialising the finance sector, supports $300 billion Wall St rescue plans yet used to be the side of small government?
Must be tough when your entire ideology loses its way.

Joe the plumber, under mcain your toast. he supports crushing small business by providing breaks to the big boy chains. Just ask ma and pa kettle how thier hardware store did after home depot, lowes and ace moved into town.
Mccain lives on an income of several million dollars a year generated by his wife’s holdings (which remain undisclosed) he does not have a clue about what a regular person is,watch how his wife avoids toching anyone’s hand at rallys, sure these are regular folks, even Pallin sports $3,000 valintino jackets, sounds regular to me. These are uber rich folks, taxes matter to them. Tou you and me, its the ability to feed our kids and run our business, taxes are not the thing that crushes us, its unfair competition from the mega chains and big business, and they get all the tax breaks and get out of jail free cards.
And Joe, lets not forget the constitution, this little old thing that has been trashed over and over again for thepast 8 years, another 8 years and we might not feel so comfortable writing or saying what we think.
G-d help us and your dream if he gets in.

Joe needs some perspective. He’s looking at a business that makes $250,000 a year in income and he’s worried about paying his fair share? For the sake of arguement let’s say he pays 30%, that’s $75000. It’s alot. It might mean Joe doesn’t get that dram vacation this year, could mean he’s got to settle for standard car or truck and not the tricked out luxury version. With that kind of income, I don’t think he’s kids will be on school lunch programs, and he won’t worry about keeping a roof over his head. If Joe is smart about his money, he’ll be fine. If I end up paying 30%, that’s $9000. Not nearly as much as Joe pays, but that leave very little else for rent and feeding my kid, keeping things together. I’m not so sure we’ll be fine. Get a grip Joe, you’re doing pretty well, there are a lot of us who aren’t.

Is anyone asking the question:
Was Joe the Plumber a McPlant?
The timing of the exchange with Obama and the number of times McCain brought it up at the debate appears more than a mere coincidence… How convenient!!
Even had the media fooled…
Wouldn’t it be something if indeed he was planted there by the McCain campaign so McCain could bring it up at the debate 2 days later…

Joe the plumber is related to Keating.

Yes Pravin isn’t it interesting that McCain had foreknowledge of Joe’s last name.
October 16th, 2008 at 10:44 am
everyone seems to ignore the national debt and its interest; 10 trillion and growing by leaps and bounds!!! It has to be paid. To be able to pay it, government has to take in more money…from those who still can afford tax increases. This is pure mathematics.
October 16th, 2008 at 11:18 am
So Obama is “socialist” because he wants to distribute”wealth” to the middle class.
So what do we call distributing wealth to the the wealthiest these past 8 years.
Please….Democrats want to help EVERYONE , Republicans want to help the Wealthy….simple as that

No Vince - he’s actually Marxist. But if he considers it an insult to identify his politics then perhaps he should change his politics.

Someone sent this to me.
It looks as if Joe the Plumber may be a Republican plant.
And his family may be connected to Charles Keating of the Keating scandal.
Joe the plumber has a very usual last name and it appears he is a relative of Charles Keating. Also, what are the chances that FOX would capture it? And his name is Joe? And he cornered Barack?
Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.

So far, all the conclusions by all the pundits are
totally based upon POLLS. Not a single actual vote
has been cast yet. Obama supporters gush at how
well their man has done in the debates, which proves
once again that Obama is a good debater and a good
speaker. It doesn’t say anything about his character,
judgement, or what kind of a leader he would be.
I still would rather trust a man who would not sell out
his fellow prisoners, even during 5 years of torture,
than to trust a man who betrayed a 20 year friendship,
for personal ambition. And … regarding this election,
until people actually vote … it ain’t over till it’s over!

Whether you are Democrat or Republican it is time for the Common Man of America to take back our Goverment. We must elect “real” Americans. The Common Man of America will be realistic and will fix the problems that politians created. I hope more “Joe the Plumbers” stand up, and that we take back our country.
October 17th, 2008 at 12:32 am
Joe stated “my American Dream was to have a house, a dog, a couple rifles, a bass boat…making a good living and being able to provide for my family, college for my son.” [Interview at http://familysecuritymatters.org/publications/id.1465/pub_detail.asp
If, as he now admits, $250k is the gross revenue of his prospective business, not the income he derives from it, he will be better able to reach these goals under Obama’s plan—much more so than McCain’s, which will tax him MORE.
Joe seems to want a flat tax, which is worth debate, but to say that a progressive tax is “socialist” is to say that that EVERY President and Congress since 1913 has been “socialist.”
If he has his house, rifles, dog, boat, and son’s college, easily paid for with a $250k income, and he’s complaining about a 3% marginal increase over that amount…that’s just sheer greed. He himself says he has no need for the money.
October 17th, 2008 at 1:29 am
well joe right? didnt seem in the middle at all recently he has said some very typical right wing crap. ‘not apologize for being americans” seems to think as do the “fringe” does in the gop That obama is unamerican. i have yet to see the gop give us any proof without them being labled hypocrites. for example even bush is considering a timetable. a reasonable more like trying to suck them for all their worth before we leave. in iraq even though even the iraqi people want us out. Give these people give their country back which includes their legitimacy. its the right thing to do.
October 17th, 2008 at 3:15 am
David, are you saying that ‘not apologize for being Americans’ is right wing crap and ‘fringe’?
Why should anyone apologize for being American? That’s a very unAmerican attitude, frankly.
Even the French don’t feel they should apologize for being French. Geezz.
October 17th, 2008 at 3:15 am
Steve, You’re wrong.
October 17th, 2008 at 7:01 pm
Beth, if I’m wrong, I’d sincerely like to know about what exactly, and why. With sources, if possible.
October 17th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
Also, David is (obviously, I think) not saying we should apologize for being Americans. He is taking issue with people like JtP -accusing- others of saying we should apologize. Feeling responsibility for what some see as misdeeds, hypocrisy or arrogance by our government is very American and thus nothing to apologize for. The government and the nation are not the same thing.
We can also be embarrassed or offended by our fellow Americansn who aren’t in government, but again, that doesn’t mean we think our nation itself is bad.

[...] We’ve gotten a bit of a glimpse at some of the changes he has in mind. All one needs do is look at the thuggery used to silence opposition. Take for example his Marxist comments to the man who has become known as ‘Joe the Plumber’ stating he would ’spread the wealth’ and then the subsequent character assassination against Joe Wurzelbacher. [...]
October 19th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Again, I would challenge you for specifics. And I would say again that, in my opinion, Obama is not interested in just “taking from the rich” and handing out to the poor. By “spreading the wealth” I think he means, giving those who are not rich a chance to better their situation. The very wealthy who have gotten tax breaks under Bush and would do so under McCain are not going to invest those savings in Joe’s dream of owning his own business. He has to save money to do that, and Obama’s tax plan would make that easier.
IF Joe made over $250,000 in income, he would pay 39% in taxes under Obama’s plan—only a 3% marginal increase on income over $250k. But Cindy McCain made $4.1 million in the past year and paid only 26% in taxes. Explain to me how this helps the middle class get ahead, if you would. This is not a matter of the Democrats “soaking the rich,” it’s a matter of Republicans soaking the middle class—and they have overspent massively, including under Reagan.
The Republican “philosophy” rests upon the same fallacy that makes Communism unworkable: the idea that people will only take as much wealth as they need, and use the rest to help their fellow countrymen achieve the same kind of life. We have seen, under Communism and the Republican brand of capitalism, that this does not work: the rich and powerful continue to acquire more wealth and power by denying it to everyone else. It’s human nature that some people are greedy. If we follow the Republican party’s path, the U.S. will eventually wind up a capitalist oligarchy like China is now.
