Simon Cowell’s X-Factor has been threatened by the islamic radical cleric Omar Bakri for supporting British troops. Read about it below and listen to Mariah Carey’s Hero (and lyrics).

Simon Cowell X-Factor

The X-Factor is Britain’s version of American Idol. Actually, the X-Factor came first. It was a hit so the show’s creator Simon Cowell, brought it to the United States. I believe he has since taken it to virtually everywhere in the world. But that’s beside the point.

This year, the finalists of the X-Factor are recording Mariah Carey’s Hero and selling wristbands. All of this is being done to benefit British troops.

Radical islamic cleric Omar Bakri has called this a form of hatred by non-believers towards muslims. The show has had to increase security and raise the terror alert. They’ve also contacted Scotland Yard.

“Some Muslims in Birmingham are wearing the armbands in support of British troops in Afghanistan,” said 50-year-old Bakri, who is in Lebanon after being exiled from London in 2004.

“This is a form of muadaat (hatred) of the kuffar (non-believers) against Muslims … and it has dangerous implications.”

“Even watching the show – those people are committing a form, a type, of mudaat (hatred),” he said.

Known for his fiery rants, Bakri pledged in December 2004 “a 9/11, day after day after day,” if Western governments didn’t change their policies.

Obviously, Bakri doesn’t like the X-Factor or his country. Since he is now living in Lebanon, I would think it would be simple enough for him to avoid watching it, but he appears to still be intent on causing as much trouble as possible even from afar.

Personally, I see this as all the more reason to make the recording, buy it, buy a wrist band and do whatever else could possibly irritate Bakri.

“If your opponent is quick to anger, seek to irritate him.”

Mariah Carey - Hero - Lyrics

There’s a hero,
If you look inside your heart,
You don’t have to be afraid of what you are,
There’s an answer,
If you reach into your soul,
And the sorrow that you know will melt away.

[chorus]
And then a hero comes along,
With the strenght to carry on,
And you cast your fears aside and you know you can survive,
So when you feel like hope is gone,
Look inside you and be strong,
And you’ll finally see the truth that a hero lies in you.

It’s a long road,
When you face the world alone,
No one reaches out a hand for you to hold,
You can find love,
If you search within yourself,
And the emptiness you felt will disappear.

[chorus]

Lord knows,
Dreams are hard to follow,
But don’t let anyone tear them away,
Hold on,
There will be tomorrow,
In time you’ll find the way.

[chorus]

That a hero lies in…..you
Ooohh that a hero lies in…..you
