24: Redemption

Two of my favorite shows have had VERY long hiatuses. Actually, there are only a couple of shows I like to watch regularly. One is Lost and the other is 24. Well, 24 is finally coming back tonight. There’s going to be a two hour prequel movie to kick off the new season. Season 7 begins January 11, 2009, but at least there will be SOMETHING to hold us over finally tonight.

It’ll be interesting to find out what happens to Jack Bauer after all the bad stuff that happened to him last season. But then, bad stuff happens to him every season. I think last season was the worst though. Do you realize that last season was two years ago!!!

Apparently, season 7 finds Jack getting caught up in a military coup while traveling in Africa. I have no idea why he’s in Africa or what happened with the lose ends left over from last season. I’m guess the trip to Africa has something to do with redemption though! lol Hopefully, tonight will fill in some of the details.

I did find a nice Jack Bauer biography though. Enjoy the movie trailer below!

With no intention of annoying ‘24′ fans I submit the following. While I am in general a fan of this genre whether in movies or on TV and specifically a fan of the body of work from both Kiefer Sutherland and his father Donald I have not been attracted to this series. I watched most of the first year and that was it. Don’t know why it interested me no further.

Maybe I’ll watch tonite while muddling through uninteresting paperwork and see if things have changed.

Ok, it held my attention when I was able to watch. By the sound of the name of the country Bauer was in it seemed almost a satirical reference to Senegal.(sounded like Sengala) The action scenes made the suspension of disbelief not east to achieve but I shouldn’t get too picky.

Well, the action scenes ALWAYS make the suspension of disbelief pretty hard! lol

I think it was last season when a nuke went off in Los Angeles and Jack Bauer was single handedly landing on roof tops rescuing people, chasing down terrorists and I forget what else. It was pretty amazing (and unbelievable). Maybe that’s the attraction for some people???

Might as well throw one more in…. the example scene on the action thing that struck me first was overpowering his captor with only his legs. Had the same effect on me when Mel Gibson did it in Lethal Weapon. Now I’m waiting for a special ops guy to tell me its a common occurence. :-)

But the program was pretty good.

Haha Stanford! It is a bit over the top. One thing I kept thinking was that Kiefer Sutherland is getting a little older, therefore Jack Bauer is getting a little older. I realize being in your 40s isn’t ‘old’ – but its a little bit older for a guy doing the kinds of physical feats that Bauer does. He’s still got a few good years in him though.

I guess he drinks a lot of high energy, strength building drinks???
