Hiroshi Nohara left Japan for a visit to Mexico and hasn’t left the Mexican airport. Read about it below and see a photo and video.
If you’ve seen the Tom Hanks movie, Terminal, then this will seem like deja vu. Hiroshi Nohara has been living in the Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico for three months now. He is from Tokyo, Japan and left there to visit Mexico with a visa and a return ticket. He got to terminal 1 in the Mexican airport and has stayed there every since.
The odd thing is that he doesn’t know why.
Mr Nohara said: “There is no specific reason (why he chose Mexico). But if I had to come up with an answer then I would say I wanted to breathe the air of Mexico at the airport.”
I’ve breathed the air in Mexico and this statement makes me wonder about the air in Tokyo.
He’s become something of a celebrity in his chosen vacation spot of an airport terminal. People want his autograph and to have their photos made with him. Vendors in the terminal give him items with their logos on them for publicity.
He sits in the terminal all day every day chatting to whomever sits there with him. He gives no explanation for his actions and the Mexican government can’t really do anything about it because he has a valid visa. I mean, if you go on vacation and have the proper papers who’s to say you shouldn’t spend your vacation sitting in an airport not shaving? To each their own.
