Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was arrested this morning on corruption charges. Its alleged that he has been trying to sale Barack Obama’s Senate seat and intimidate The Chicago Tribune among other things. Patricia Blagojevich is Rod Blagojevich’s wife and she is implicated in the allegations against her husband.

According to the affidavit, in one profanity-laced account, Patricia Blagojevich was allegedly heard in the background of a call between her husband and someone identified as “Deputy Governor A” advising the governor on how to handle The Chicago Tribune, which had published an editorial critical of the governor.

“F— them,” Patricia Blagojevich is quoted as saying, according to the affidavit. In an apparent reference to the Tribune Company’s attempts to sell Wrigley Field and the Chicago Cubs, she urges the two engaged in the phone call to “hold up that f—ing Cubs s—.”

The affidavit also says Mrs. Blagojevich then got on the phone and said the Tribune owner could “just fire” the editorial’s writers. Gov. Blagojevich then got back on the phone and adopted that same position, the affidavit claims.

This isn’t the first time the First Family of Illinois has been in the cross hairs of investigations. The video below is about an investigation of the Governor’s activities from over a year ago. There have been allegations and suspicions throughout their political careers of corruption. There have been questions about First Lady’s real estate business and how she has done business with politically connected clients and what exactly those enormous commissions she received were actually paying for.

Her father is Illinois Alderman Dick Mell who is alleged to have facilitated Blagojevich’s career in politics even though the two have publicly feuded.

Obama denies that there is an Obama Blagojevich connection. He states he was not aware of what Blagojevich was up to even though the two have been connected in several ways, including their common relationship with Tony Rezko. This seems similar to the way that Obama wasn’t aware of what his minister Jeremiah Wright said in church for the twenty years he sat in the church. His lack of awareness of what is going on with his associates is a disturbing pattern. It seems that Obama is the only honest politician to come out the Chicago political machine.

Patricia Mell Blagojevich is the daughter of Illinois Alderman Dick Mell. Her sister is Deb Mell who has recently been elected to the Illinois State House of Representatives.

Mrs. Blagojevich earned a bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She is a licensed real estate broker and appraiser, and owns her own real estate company on Chicago’s North Side. She has been the First Lady of Illinois since her husband’s election to Governor in 2003. She focuses her energy on early childhood literacy and health care programs for children.

The Blagojevichs have two young daughters, Amy and Annie.
