Malika El-Aroud is the widow of an al-Qaeda suicide bomber and a terrorist in her own right. She has been arrested today in Belgian. Read about her and see photos of her below.
Malika El-Aroud was arrested today, December 11, 2008, in Belgian. She is suspected to have links to terrorism. She calls herself a holy warrior for al-Qaeda. She is one of the most prolific and prominent internet jihadists in Europe. She writes in French under the name of Oum Obeyda and spends her time in internet chat rooms and forums waging jihad against the West.
El-Aroud is a Belgian muslim of Moroccan descent and lives in Brussels, Belgium. She is the widow of Dahmane Abd al-Sattar. He was one of the men who killed Ahmad Shah Massoud of the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan just two days before the attacks of September 11, 2001. She was tried and cleared of complicity in the murder of Massoud in Belgian courts in 2003.
El-Aroud’s second husband is a Tunisian man named Moez Garsalloui. The two of them were arrested in February 2005 and charged with terrorism. She was accused of waging internet jihad and inciting racial violence and acts of violence. She was found guilty of supporting radical islamist organizations via the internet in Switzerland in June 2007.
She has said that she doesn’t use bombs, but her written words to fight. She calls her internet campaign her jihad. ‘You can do many things with words. Writing is also a bomb.’, she has said.
She has also been quoted as warning Westerners that, ‘Vietnam is nothing compared to what awaits you on our lands, … Ask your mothers, your wives to order your coffins.’
Malika El-Aroud and thirteen others were arrested on the eve of the European Union Summit in Brussels. One of the suspects arrested had done a martyrdom video, but the target of his attack is not known.
Fourteen more terrorists in the Global War on Terrorism are off the streets. At least for the time being.
