I’m spending Christmas in San Diego with my daughter and her boyfriend. The biggest Christmas decoration I’ve seen so far is this poinsettia Christmas tree at Seaport Village.

Actually, we’ve seen lots of decorations lighting up houses, but the poinsettia tree is the only city decoration I’ve seen so far. That’s because its pouring rain, overcast and cold. In San Diego. Its cold and rainy in San Diego. I thought they had a city ordinance against rain and cold here! Governor Schwarzenegger should look into what’s going on here in the southern end of the state.

When my daughter picked me up from the airport we went to Seaport Village for lunch. You see, I had an early flight and didn’t get any breakfast on the way to the airport. I didn’t worry about that because my eticket said that a meal was served on the flight. Seeing as its a five hour flight from Atlanta to San Diego, I figured there would be food on the flight. Its been a long time since I’ve flown that far on a domestic flight so I didn’t really realize how much things have changed. I knew they didn’t feed you on as much as a two hour flight, but I didn’t know they didn’t feed you on a five hour flight. The man sitting next to me had very wisely packed a lunch. I’ll do that on the way home.

Anyway, by the time I got to San Diego I was REALLY hungry so my darling daughter took me to Seaport Village and we found a little sandwich shop and had lunch by the water and watched the ships. It was quite nice. I ordered a California wrap - seeing as it was California it seemed like the right thing to do. It had the flavor of California, crunchy vegetables. It reeked of healthy vegetarian nourishment. So we topped that off with a stop by Ben & Jerrys for ice cream! Don’t worry, this is California so we got to pay about five bucks for two spoons full of naughty decadence. Surely that wasn’t enough fat and sugar to offset the healthy benefit of the California wrap!

We walked around the village some. Looked at the Star of India and the USS Midway and headed to her house. The period of time we were at Seaport Village is the only period of time it hasn’t rained since I’ve been here.

This is the rainy season in San Diego. I’ll keep you posted, but I’m sure it doesn’t last more than a few days.
