How will you commemorate the Presidency of Barack Obama? I know he hasn’t taken office yet, but you can buy his image on just about anything to commemorate the Presidency that has yet to be. Read about it below and see photos of a small sampling of the items for sale and a video.
“This is a rare opportunity to remember an important moment in American history.”
Have we ever seen this level of commercialization of the Presidency before? You know what I’m talking about. The paid programing on those round the clock channels that nobody watches. The Obama commemorative coins, posters, plates and just about anything else. Its all the Obama Commemorative Stuff. Things you can spend your money on to further enrich The One and then put it somewhere in your house to collect dust.
I do believe, if Obama hadn’t decided to go into politics, he could have given Billy Mays a run for his money as the most prolific salesman of useless stuff. Hi! Barack Obama here for the amazing Obama Commemorative Paper Plate! For just $10 you can have this one of a kind paper plate hanging on YOUR kitchen wall. There will be only 100 trillion of these made. Order it now so you don’t miss out.
Obama is hawking the stuff now himself. He sent out an email to his exclusive email group that only 10 million people have been chosen to be on. In the email he asks people to please, purdy please, buy a commemorative item to help pay off the debts incurred by the campaign. I find this confusing seeing as he raised record breaking amounts of money during his campaign. He claimed to have raised his almost $1 Billion (with a B) from little old ladies who donated $5 or $10 of their life savings via the internet. Now he wants more. And I thought the democrats weren’t all that into free enterprise and making money hand over fist! Heh! You can go play a game to see if you can guess what it is that Obama is personally asking his followers to buy to help him out of his campaign debt.
Well, he DID spend about five times the money than John McCain did. Per vote.
Let’s see. Ten dollars per item for sale to the 10 million on his email list. Carry the one and multiply by …. well …. my goodness …. that’s a whole lot of money. I’ll have to come up with some commemorative stuff to sale.
You can see a few of the items for sale under the fold.

Obama’s imprint is almost Kennedy-esque. His autograph is among the most sought-after in the world right now and people are looking to grab a little slice of history. Whether you agree with his idea or not, I think it’s nice to see people excited about the process again–and not as cynical.
