What will Michelle Obama wear to the Inaugural Ball? Everyone is on pins and needles to find out and all the designers are scampering around with sketches, hoping their design will be picked. Here’s a bunch of designs that have been submitted for consideration. What will she pick?
American fashion designers are lining up to dress Michelle Obama for the January 20, 2009 Inaugural Ball. Rumor has it that she’s been in talks with Narciso Rodriguez, the New York designer who dressed her in the red and black number she wore on election night. A lot of people are speculating that she’ll go with Rodriguez again for the Inaugural Ball. But who knows?
We must fuss over this as she is being touted as having the fashion sense, style and grace of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Those who want to, will see her that way. Those who don’t, won’t. Regardless, the fashion world is all aflutter. Big name designers are ready, willing and able to dress her. And as we all know, with the Obama’s, money is of no concern.
The sketches here were offered up by names like: Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel), Badgley Mischka, Betsey Johnson, Carolina Herrera, Chado Ralph Rucci, Christian Lacroix, Diane von Furstenberg, Isaac Mizrahi, Koi Suwannagate, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de la Renta, Peter Som, Rachel Roy, Rodarte, Tracy Reese, Tuleh, Zac Posen and Zero + Maria Cornejo
Canadian designers sketched some designs for her as well. Although I hope she is proud enough of her country at this point that she’d pick an American designer.
A lot more designs are below - which should she choose? (Click on images to enlarge)
Thanks to Southern Sass on Crime for the heads up about the gowns.

I really like the red, white and blue gown, but she won’t pick it because it is is red, white and blue, and is graciously southern. She is vain enough to want to make a grand , breath gasping entrance, fashion rules be damned.
I keep hearing she is having a copy made of Jackie’s inaugural gown…that’s too much to hope for.
The biggest difference in MO and Jackie is MO would need months of charm school to pass as a lady, and Jackie was born that way.

Who gives a sh*t what she wears. I won’t be watching, although I doubt I’ll be able to escape the endless news clips focused on this HISTORIC and MOMENTOUS and EARTH-SHATTERING event. The MSM is in a virtual orgy of orgasmic Obama-worship.
Like any good erotic adventure - it’s fun at first, but you really can’t maintain that high level of excitement forever. The fall is coming.
Oh…My…GOD! Obama will be the FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN President! Let’s all salivate and worship him! Oh. My. God. He works out and has muscles. Michelle Obama wears designer dresses and looks nice in them. The two Obama girls are cute. WE’VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING SO AMAZING BEFORE!! A NICE LOOKING FIRST FAMILY!!!!!!!! And that letter he wrote his daughters - Sure, it’s something he would have written even if he didn’t know it would be splashed all over the news. Yes, you know you believe that! Come on, people! Get a grip on reality here!
In years to come, people will look back at this and see all this silliness for what it is - blind silliness. A bunch of folks trying to make this occasion bigger than it is. He’s a man. A freaking liberal hot air bag. Nothing less. Nothing more.

Okay - for the inauguration she selected a duck outfit. Really - my friend called and said she looks like a freaking duck. I had to check it out then. Really - the lady has some common sense. What on earth made her choose that outfit for the swearing in ceremony?

Wow! It is amazing how bitter and petty some people are. You should be excited that we have a president capable of speaking the english language and creating alliances instead of enemies around the globe for the first time in eight years. Michelle has class, brains and beauty. Get over yourselves.

Brenda - you mean the mature way the left has treated Bush all these years? There’s a REASON why our enemies hated Bush. They don’t see Obama as change - he’s just another American President to them and he’ll have to deal with their threats to the country as well. I just hope he does as good a job of it as Bush did. I hope enemies of the West hate Obama too. That would be best for all of us.
