Captain Chesley B. ‘Sully’ Sullenberger, III is being hailed as a hero today for landing his disabled U.S. Airways jet in the Hudson River without a single casualty. Its being called the ‘Miracle on the Hudson’. Read about it below and see a video with first person accounts of what happened.
As everyone knows by now, US Airways A320, flight 1549, was taking off from LaGuardia Airport for what should have been a routine flight to North Carolina, when it was crippled by both engines blowing out. It seems it was attacked by a swarm of Kamikaze suicidal birds that flew into the engines. The people aboard that flight were fortunate to have someone like Captain Chesley B. ‘Sully’ Sullenberger, III at the helm of the plane. Within minutes, he landed the plane in the Hudson River as though he were landing on an runway. The passengers could very well have been the victims of a fiery crash instead of telling their stories today about how they glided onto the Hudson and walked out onto the wings of the plane for rescue. There were 155 souls on board.
Sullenberger, known as Sully, is a former fighter pilot. Reports are that as the passengers were leaving the plane, he was sitting there with his hat on sipping coffee. After all passengers had left the plane, he searched the plane twice to ensure that all passengers had safely exited. Its no wonder he’s being called a hero.
Of course, that won’t keep the lawyers from lining up to sue the airline and everyone involved. People will be afraid to fly, afraid of water, afraid of birds and afraid of the cold. But before the lawsuits start getting filed, everyone is basking in the warm feeling of a happy ending to what could have been a real tragedy.
Here are some photos from the landing site (I can’t call it a ‘crash site’ because they really didn’t crash).

Oh, I forgot to mention that Chuckie Schumer was against legislation to keep geese away from this high-risk area…legislation designed to keep flight’s like Sully’s safe.
These people in Congress are arrogant beyond belief.
