Obama Promises New Start With Muslims
Barack Obama is giving promises that he will improve relations between the United States and the muslim world. Read about it below.
The muslim world is apparently hopeful that the new American President, Barack Hussein Obama, will usher in a new cordial relationship between their interests and the United States. He lived in Indonesia for a while after all. Indonesia has the largest population of muslims in the world. He lived in the home of his stepfather Lolo Soetoro, an Indonesian muslim. His own father was a Kenyan muslim and many of Obama’s paternal relatives are muslim. There is every reason for the islamic world to be hopeful.
Obama’s pre-election rhetoric was full of promises to pull our troops out of Iraq precipitously, allowing the islamic fundamentalists to retake that country still suffering the pain of birthing a new democracy. That set back for the United States and for Iraq would give the islamic world every reason to be hopeful.
Obama has promised repeatedly to flood Afghanistan with American Troops. That wild, lawless mountainous land populated with the descendants of Genghis Khan and his warriors is, in part, the reason we picked a different battlefield for the Global War on Terrorism. Picking the battlefield is military strategy that Obama may not understand. Should he decide to pour our Troops into Afghanistan than he will indeed be acting like John F. Kennedy when he sent American Troops into Vietnam. THAT would be a quagmire. It gives the muslim world reason to hope.
He promises to close down the terrorist prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, known as Gitmo. He hasn’t mentioned where he might send the terrorists imprisoned there. No other countries want them. Their own countries don’t want them. Its been mentioned that he’ll send them to Camp Pendleton in California. I suppose they haven’t taken into account that San Onfre Nuclear Plant is there and that the base has easy access to transportation going in any direction. You know, should one of those bad actors escape somehow. I personally think he should take them all home with them to make sure they are well fed and given every human right. He has a house in South Chicago he’s not using right now. Let them go there.
The muslim world is looking on the pomp and ceremony of the peaceful transfer of power that is common only to the United States and wonders what will happen now.
Many Muslims are already excited about Obama, he said.
“If you were to go to Damascus, or Cairo, or Jerusalem today, you could find an Obama tee shirt. People are excited about the possibilities for what this means around the globe.”
The population of Ellison’s district is three or four percent Muslim, he said. Since his election to Congress in 2006, another Muslim has also been voted in: Democrat Andre Carson of Indiana.
About 300 young Muslims from 76 countries signed a letter published in the Washington Post on Tuesday, urging the new president to make policy changes that could improve relations between the Muslim world and the West.
Hey. Why not? September 11, 2001 was a long time ago. It was AGES ago in American time. A mere blip on the screen. All the signs people held out reading, ‘We Will Never Forget’ have been forgotten. They only killed a few thousand innocent Americans, after all.
Al-Qaeda has obviously been rendered powerless. If not, they would have attacked us again by now. Other islamic terrorist organizations have failed in their numerous attempts to hit since then. We’ve found them, caught them, stopped them. We’ve kept them having to fight us in the battle field we chose to fight them in. They haven’t been able to hit us. So obviously, they aren’t a problem anymore.
Of course, that has nothing to do with anything President George W. Bush did. Our enemies hate him, so he must be wrong. They love Obama, so he must be right.
Can’t we all just get along? Sheesh.

Well said, Beth…well said.

“Our enemies hate [George W. Bush], so he must be wrong. They love Obama, so he must be right.”
What a frighteningly ignorant and caustic view of foreign relations. Beth should be ashamed for such nonsense, revealing her deep-seated intolerance and ethnocentrism. To make the link between reports that muslims throughout the world are excited about the possibility of a change in US policy with Obama and a claim that our enemies love Obama is dangerous rabble-rousing at best, and hateful bigotry at worst. Shame on you.

Decentralize is absolutely right. “Frighteningly ignorant” is right on the mark. We are finally ending 8 years of that kind of thinking.
So Muslims are now our enemies? Wow.
You are a small-minded bigot, and what’s worse is that people who think like you make us LESS SAFE, not MORE.
You are also a dinosaur. You and your kind have been thoroughly discredited and are now dying off.
