Former French President Jacques Chirac is in the hospital following a vicious attack by his poodle, Sumo. Read about it below.
As if the French don’t suffer enough humiliation, we now have them being attacked by poodles. It seems the former French President Jacques Chirac was attacked by his clinically depressed Maltese poodle yesterday. The Frenchman was rushed to the hospital after the attack and treated as an outpatient. His wife, Bernadette Chirac, explained.
“If you only knew! I had a dramatic day yesterday,” she told VSD magazine. “Sumo bit my husband!”
Mrs. Chirac, 74, did not reveal where the former president was bitten, but said, “the dog went for him for no apparent reason.”
“We were aware the animal was unpredictable and is being treated with pills for depression. My husband was bitten quite badly but he is certain to make a full recovery in weeks.”
The poodle, Sumo, has been under treatment with anti-depressants because he has a history of vicious attacks, frenzied fits and unpredictable behavior. Its a good thing his pet isn’t a German Shepard.
Chirac is now 76-years-old and was President of France for 12 years. He was the predecessor of current President Sarkozy, who took office in 2007.
We wish Mr. Chirac a speedy recovery.
