It wasn’t too long ago that the world discovered then Presidential candidate Barack Obama had a half-brother in Nairobi, Kenya living in squalid conditions. George Hussein Onyango Obama is the 26-year-old half brother of the President. Anyone can be forgiven for not knowing who he is considering the large network of half-siblings and other relatives the President has through his Kenyan family.
A lot of people wondered why Barack Obama had done nothing for his brother when people first found out about George Obama and the highly unfortunate conditions under which he is living. You know, seeing as how Obama is all about helping people less fortunate than himself.
On top of having to live on about a dollar a month, he has now been arrested on drug charges.
NAIROBI (AFP) — US President Barack Obama’s Kenyan half brother George was arrested on charges of possession of cannabis, police sources said Saturday.
George Obama was arrested on Friday with cannabis, known locally as bhang, and was placed in custody, a senior police officer told AFP on condition of anonymity.
“He was picked up in Nairobi’s Huruma area with three other young men,” the officer said, adding they were due to appear in court on Monday.
In his memoir, the new US president describes meeting his half brother as “a painful affair”. George Obama was one of the few close relatives who did not attend the president’s January 20 inauguration ceremony in Washington.
