Barack Obama’s use of teleprompters is becoming legendary. He doesn’t go anywhere without them and rarely, if ever, speaks without their assistance. Read about it below and see some photos and a video of Obama with and of him without a teleprompter.

We’ve all seen the enormous difference in Obama’s ability to speak when he is delivering a prepared speech and when he’s attempting to answer questions that haven’t been screened or speaking extemporaneously. Those moments when he’s speaking without his teleprompter are not a pretty sight. The rumors of his having teleprompters at all his speeches, even casual townhall type settings during his campaign were the source of some humor and a lot of concern about his inability to talk off the cuff.

Well not much has changed except that he now how all resources necessary to have the most sophisticated technology to have the most elaborate teleprompters available at all events. I personally think that is why he went to such lengths to avoid having to spend one on one time with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. How does one have a teleprompter ready for an intimate conversation with another world leader? That’s just something I’ve wondered, of course.

Obama is becoming known as the TelePrompter President. Its gotten increasingly obvious that he is not able to veer off his scripted words without stammering and stuttering. In such cases, he often reverts to making copious compliments of his wife’s beauty or telling cute stories about his children. You know, the things he knows something about.

Even the left leaning media is beginning to comment on it, because there’s no way to get around it. They excuse it though. They say he uses his teleprompters to such an extent because he likes to stay on message, but admit he gives the appearance of being overly scripted. That could be because he IS overly scripted. But who knows.

Apparently, he doesn’t even introduce someone with the teleprompter there to script his words for him. This lends itself to some awkward moments now and then. For instance, when he introduced Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius as his choice for Health and Human Services secretary. When she stepped up to the podium, they had to wait for the teleprompters to lower before she spoke (see video below).
