Judicial Watch has exposed emails from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office that make it appear she is using the Air Force as her on personal airline. Read about it below.

One of the things that I dislike the most about the Progressives is their disrespect for the military. Well, there are other things, like the fact that they apparently view tax payers dollars as their personal funds and belonging to the ‘government’ rather than to the people who ARE the government. Oh, and there’s their constant anger and victimization. Then there’s the childish naive way they bicker and carry on and never get anything actually done because they haven’t matured past adolescence.

But today we are made aware, once again, of how our House Speaker, third in line for the Presidency, Nancy Pelosi, who seems to view the Air Force as her own personal airline. Its not the first time she’s been seen to view things that way. A few years ago she insisted on military air transportation that was large enough to carry herself and her family non-stop from Washington, D.C. to her home in San Francisco. Hey, a girl has her needs, right?

Now, Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group, has released emails from Pelosi’s office that appear to imply that Ms. Pelosi is still in the frame of mind that the military is there for her personal use.

Pelosi’s office disputed the claim, pointing to White House policy enacted after the Sept. 11 attacks allowing for the House speaker to travel to his or her congressional district via military aircraft whenever possible for security reasons. Her office said she typically uses the same kind of aircraft used by her predecessor, Dennis Hastert.

But Judicial Watch said that Pelosi was notorious for making special demands for high-end aircraft, lodging last-minute cancellations and racking up additional expenses for the military.

The e-mails showed repeated attempts by Pelosi aides to request aircraft, sometimes aggressively, and by Department of Defense officials to accommodate them.

“I think that’s above and beyond what other members of Congress are doing and what is expected of our elected officials,” said Jenny Small, a researcher with the group.

In one e-mail, aide Kay King complained to the military that they had not made available any aircraft the House speaker wanted for Memorial Day recess.

“It is my understanding there are NO G5s available for the House during the Memorial Day recess. This is totally unacceptable … The Speaker will want to know where the planes are,” King wrote.

In another, when told a certain type of aircraft would not be available, King wrote: “This is not good news, and we will have some very disappointed folks, as well as a very upset Speaker.”

Of course, Pelosi’s people said she’s ‘extraordinarily appreciative’ of the efforts of the Department of Defense to accommodate her.

I would think she’d be appreciative. She’s getting what amounts to luxury private jets to use at her convenience and she doesn’t have to pay a dime for it. Wait a minute - who’s paying for it? Oh, we are. The taxpayer pays for it!

While I understand someone in her position needing the option to use military transportation, I don’t understand her demanding it at her convenience and using it for personal trips with friends and family. But then, its typical of the democratic leadership to view the military as merely an arm of the government for them to use when needed (see the Clinton administration) and to feel a sense of entitlement. There are, after all, few if any consequences for abuse of power.
