In another instance of “What ya’ gonna do about it Obama”, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez announced that he would host Russian Bombers, along with Cuba. Read more, see photos and video below.

Hugo Chavez has offered an island as a “temporary” base for strategic Russian bombers. This information came from a Russian Air Force Chief on Saturday. Anatoly Zhikarev also said that Cuba could be used as a base for the bombers; anybody smell a message to Obama in this? Why would the Russians voluntarily give this kind of information if they didn’t want some sort of “response” from the White House?

The Russians for their part say that this is just “hypothetical”. Sure it is. Hugo Chavez invited the Russians last year to join his military and navy in joint exercises. The Russians are saying that they intend to use the bases for support for their long range bomber patrols that have been suspended for the last 15 years. They want to mirror patrols conducted by the United States who, thank God, have never suspended our patrols since the end of the cold war.

Russian Tu-160’s were based in Venezuela last year as a signal to the United States that they still had long-range capabilities. President George W. Bush ignored the display as nothing more than a show, and not an actual threat to the United States.

This is just another in a long list of “tests” that seem to be coming in President Barack Obama’s direction since his inauguration in January. Along with this message by the Russians and Venezuelans has been saber rattling by North Korea and Iran, as well as China becoming very frisky in the South China sea; instigating deployment of U.S. warships into that area.
