Trig Palin is absolutely adorable in his new glasses and hasn’t he grown since the election! Piper Palin is, as always, by her mother’s side, playing with her little brother. Sarah Palin talks about the special gift of having a ’special’ child and her pleasure that Trig will have the opportunity to participate in sports just like his brothers and sisters do, thanks to the Special Olympics.
The recent Special Olympics 2009 World Winter Games were held in Boise, Idaho. The video above was for those games. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Special Olympics CEO Tim Shriver and Olympic figure skater Scott Hamilton addressed the athletes before the games began.
Shriver praised the World Games qualifiers and challenged spectators saying, “They’re racing with all the energy God gave them. They’re unafraid. They’re brave. Don’t just admire them. Don’t just be nice to them. Don’t you dare pity them. Instead, why not follow them?”
Also at the games, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin delivered a power-packed speech during which she praised the hope Special Olympics provides for her son Trig, who has Down Syndrome.
Schwarzenegger, in a videotaped message, said, “I come to Special Olympics to pump up the athletes and inspire them, but I’m always the one who gets pumped up and inspired the most.”
This is how mature, caring adults speak and behave. On the other hand, our President goes on a comedy show and attempts to make points for himself at the expense of these beautiful, innocent children. Its real people contrasted against an elitist who purses his lips and raises his nose in the air giving the impression that virtually everyone else is beneath his class and yet he has no class.
Of course, his forces are out trying to spin it as not being his fault. Maybe his telepromter went haywire for a minute. Who knows.

I’m thinking there wasn’t a teleprompter in sight when this was taped. If there was, you know she wrote and spoke what was on her heart.
I loved her comment about the “hourglass’ being upside-down and her heart poured out” (or something similar).

He has hurt many families in America. He needs to say he is sorry in the public, not to an organization.
During the campaign for the White House in 2008, the media criticized Palin for being ‘common,’ ‘not-polished,’ ‘not-compassionate’ and ‘not presidential.’ However, compare Sarah Palins attitude in this video created three weeks ago for the Special Olympics in Boise, Idaho.

I tell you, President Obama has done some pretty outrageous things since he took office. This comment ranks right up there with proposing to force veterans to pay for their own health care. He made a cheap shot at those who are not able to defend themselves. He frequently makes slips and says what he really thinks when he is off the teleprompter, and he did exactly that with this comment. His apology really means nothing to me, since he did it in private to the head of the Special Olympics (who happens to be a part of the Kennedy family, people who do what they can to cover for Obama). (I salute Mr. Shriver for the work that he does for the Special Olympics, regardless of his associations.)
Now, Sarah Palin on the other hand, was very genuine and showed once again that she is a real, down-to-earth everyday American. Special needs children are wonderful children, who are full of joy and bring joy to those around them. Sarah went out of her way to acknowledge how that is certainly the case in her own family.
I know there are a lot of Special Olympics athletes who could give President Obama a good “dusting” in any sport, including basketball.

Thank you for sharing this video. What a tragic loss not to have Sarah Palin as our vice president. Instead everyone was in a hurry for “CHANGE” and look what we got. The tears of Jessie Jackson and Oprah were more on a racial basis then what was truly good for this country. In less the 90 days the turmoil continues with a man who can not function in an office that was handed to him with the help of the media. A man you stutters and pauses if he does not have a teleprompter and speech written for him. With his horrible remark about special olympics only shows his ignorance and lack of respect for the human race, unless you are seeded at his side of arrogance. God help this country if we can even handle one year let alone four.

I was so impressed with Sarah Palin’s video, clear and brilliant. So why use the occasion to bash Obama? It really belittles the whole point of Special Olympics. The election is over!

I have a 4 year old daughter with D.S., and I am extremely grateful that Special Olympics exists. We are a competitive family, too, and this just will help Mahala feel included. How wonderful is that!!! She can ride her horse and compete just like her siblings did!!!
