Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge Calvin Bowman sentenced Jonathan (Jon) Staat to 5 years of probation this week in a Michigan courtroom. This is Staat’s second offense against children 4-years-old and under in 3 years. Read about this and see photo and video below.

Judge Calvin Bosman, remember that name at election time as the one to put back on the street. This week, this Michigan judge sentenced 16-year-old Jonathan Staat, a two time sex offender to no jail time whatsoever. Instead, he sentenced him to 5 years probation. Staat’s sex offenses were against children 4-years-old and under.

In defending his sentence, Judge Bosman stated:

“If he, in 10 years is to be a better person than he was he will be better able to do so going through counseling, finishing high school, obtaining employment, and hopefully carrying on what you and I would consider a normal life,”

A genuine WTH? to me, considering this is Jonathan Staat’s second (that we know of) sex crime against small children. In 2005 he received one year probation and six months counseling for committing the same crime against a different child. The charges in 2005 and 2008 were initially first degree criminal sexual conduct, but by the time this guy’s defense attorneys were done, the charges were plead down to 2nd degree.

The unidentified father of this 4-year-old CHILD had this to say:

While everyone is entitled to their opinion, these simple facts remain. His first assualt in 2005 netted him 6 months probation, counseling and self-directed community service.

His assault on my daughter was his second conviction in three years and the charge that he plead DOWN to was “Sexual Assault with Intent to commit Penetration”. He was charged and convicted as an ADULT!

Counseling did not work the first time and in my opinion, Judge Bosman’s greater concern for what type of individual the offender will become over his perceived lack of concern of the danger Mr. Staat presents to the public causes me to question his position.

As I am not a resident of the community that Judge Bosman serves I must leave it up to the voices of those who are, to decide weather or not he continues to “Serve and Protect” their community.

However, Michael Staat, Jonathan Staat’s bio-dad tends to minimize the situation by saying:

He thought his son’s punishment is sufficient. He says Staat asked the girl to perform oral sex on him and she did it.

Yes, Michael Staat … let’s blame the 4 year old victim, not your pedophile son. As an alleged *parent*, were you unable to notice his tiny, pitiful 6 month counseling session wasn’t working? You never noticed your own flesh and blood was *different” in his attitude towards children? Or did you pass it off to the old adage “kids will be kids”. If so, that leaves me thinking you have half the brain cells of drunken piss-ant on a Saturday night and your son even less.

Judge Bosman is a disgrace, and obviously doesn’t keep up with these types of crimes. There is NO cure for pedophilia other than lifetime incarceration.

Yes, he is looking at this predators chance for a future and doubts he will have one if he is jailed. Newsflash Judge: What about the futures of the children he has already harmed? We know there have very likely been more than these two. How many others will have to be raped before he is put behind bars? Judge Bowman, the only message you sent Jonathan Staat was to be more careful next time. Make sure they can’t, or won’t talk. How many minors quit drinking and drugging when placed on probation? My guess is none. Why would you expect this terrorist to be any different?

And yes, Jonathan Staat is a terrorist. A bully … that will apparently be able to leave a trail of victims throughout his life, until some judge somewhere pulls up his big boy britches and gives him an appropriate sentence.

Remember, Jon Staat was tried as an ADULT this time, and still walked away with a wrist slap. Five years probation. Some counseling. One year on a tether, and a 4:00 pm curfew for a year! He will be out and about, walking free among society, a society full of vulnerable children.

Bosman is supposed to work for the victim and her family, as well as the community. This kind of criminal can’t be rehabilitated. If we can’t kill them, then they need to be incarcerated for life. This is one class of criminal I don’t mind my taxes paying to keep locked up. Pedophiles cannot control their urges. He will do it again.

A bit of irony here, though. Jonathan Staat will stay in jail for 90 days because … wait for it ….. he hasn’t paid his fines! Harm a child, take a walk … don’t pay your fine, 90 days in jail. Anyone see anything wrong here?
