Another day, another bizarre Obama policy to change the way Americans express our American-ness. Today, Obama has declared that GM and Chrysler will no longer participate in NASCAR. Read about it below and see photos and videos.

Obama Hates NASCAR

Obama has sent yet another proclamation as to how the automobile industry will conduct business. Even though he is busy in London meeting the Queen of England and heads of state at the G20 Summit, he has proven that the long tentacles of massively big government can reach all the way across the Atlantic Ocean and intrude further into American private industries. He has declared that GM and Chrysler are out of NASCAR as of the end of the 2009 racing season.

So it is say, so it shall be done.

Is this revenge against GM? Is it just the next step in the government’s hostile take over of the automobile industry in the United States? Is it an Obama NASCAR snub? Does he just hate NASCAR? Does he hate private industry? Does he have disdain for traditionally American sports or traditionally Southern sports? Or does he just love power?

This is putting a real hurt on both GM and Chrysler as well as NASCAR and the racing fans are outraged.

“Automakers used to operate on the principle of ‘win on Sunday, sell on Monday,’ but the Auto Task Force’s research just doesn’t validate that as true.

“In order to receive this money, corporations must demonstrate they will spend it wisely. Racing has been said to improve on-road technology, but frankly, NASCAR almost flaunts its standing among the lowest-tech forms of motorsport. NASCAR is not proven to drive advancements that transfer from the racetrack to the road, and this nation’s way forward does not hinge on decades-old technology. We need new, and we need innovation.”

“This is an obvious cut to make, but it is not an easy one. This administration is not ignoring the tremendous sentimental value and emotional appeal NASCAR holds for so many Americans. But now is not the time for sentiment and nostalgia; now is a time for decisive financial action. If our automotive industry is to emerge from this recession intact, then these difficult decisions must be made.”

This is perfectly in line with the Obama agenda of forcing his green cars on the American people. You know we love those big gas guzzling cars, SUVs and trucks. And the carbon footprint left by a sport like NASCAR could hardly be measured. In true Obama fashion, the preferred racing car will be electric cars tooling around the race track to the yawns of whoever might show up to watch it.

This isn’t the first time Obama has dissed NASCAR as evidenced in the video below. He just doesn’t ‘get’ NASCAR. He just doesn’t ‘get’ the South. As I recall, he never bothered to campaign in the South throughout his two years of campaigning for his current job. Has he ever been in the South?

A move like this could be political suicide. On the other hand, it could be an April Fool’s joke.
