Philip Haynes Markoff, a Boston University School of Medicine medical student was arrested in Boston tonight and charged with the murder of 26-year-old masseuse Julissa Brisman and suspected of being the ‘Craigslist killer’. Read about him below and see the surveillance photos and a video.
Craigslist Killer
The Craigslist Killer has been targeting women who sell their services through the popular website Craigslist. The attacks have gained national attention as the perpetrator seemed to be picking his victims from the website who were offering services like ‘private dances’ and ‘private massages’.
Most of the victims were tied up and robbed at gunpoint. However, one of the women, 26-year-old Julissa Brisman, was shot and killed as she tried to escape the attack in her room at the Marriott Copley Place in Boston. The aspiring actress was found on the 20th floor of the hotel in cardiac arrest and was not able to be revived. She had been shot multiple times in the torso.
Hotel surveillance photos from the attack sites showed a blond man who was strikingly similar in appearance, clothing and his concentration on texting on his Blackberry as he walked past the cameras. The similarities in the surveillance photos helped connect the crimes.
Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis and Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley announced earlier tonight that they ahve arrested 23-year-old Philip Markoff of Quincy, Massachusetts. He is arrested for the murder of Julissa Brisman and in connection with the Craigslist assaults.
Philip Haynes Markoff was in his second year of medical school at Boston University School of Medicine. He was suspended from the medical program when the school learned of the charges against him. He is 23-years-old. There are news reports that he is the son of a Syracuse, New York dentist and educator, although that hasn’t been confirmed. He’s engaged to be married on August 14, 2009.
On Tuesday, April 21, 2009 Markoff is scheduled to be arraigned in the Boston Municipal Court on charges of murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, armed robbery and kidnapping.
His neighbors in Quincy have issued the obligatory statements that he is a nice, clean cut guy that no one ever suspected could possibly be involved in anything of this nature, they are shocked and never expected anything like this.

What a coward, I am sure he will get life behind bars for what he did, I mean really robbing women. I bet Julissa was kicking his butt and almost got away then the coward shot her multiple times. COWARD! As for you Miss Megan McAllister, be glad you know what a monster Mr. Markoff is and go on with your life, just think you may have been one day his next victim. He is a preditor and a coward and a murderer. All the evidence is there dont be a fool!

The epistemology, that is to say the validity of psychopathology and socio-pathology, is weak.Forensic psychiatrists and others build profiles of individuals who seemingly
act without any moral concern for others.
It is a tautology to observe this behavior and then label it without identifying the underlying causes. Can any forensic psychiatrist present scientific evidence of the cause of this behavior? Does it have a genetic basis? Is this behavior the result of environmental influences? Is it due to a genetic predisposition combined with environmental factors? Forensic scientists may provide excellent insight into the factors associated with a specific individual, but no one can explain what is called social pathology or psychopathology with scientific certainty.
A psychologist has written a book entitled
“The Killer Next Door”. The title is both offensive and false. One of my sociology professors noted that, given the millions of people, it is remarkable how relatively few human beings commit these horrific acts. One’s next-door neighbors may well be wonderful people or bores. However the probability is overwhelming that they are not killers.
This same author refers to psychopaths not having a conscience. Has she ever seen a conscience?
It is possible that with additional research, science may one day be able to effectively explain the origins of the types of murderers who are currently described as sociopaths or psychopaths. When I attended graduate school at John Jay Criminal Justice, these terms were sometimes defined as “I don’t like you and I don’t understand you”.
Until the epistemology of psychopathology and socio-pathology is strengthened, humility in confronting the origins of this behavior

psychiatrists over analyze everything
it is a joke what they do
people snap or like him maybe just wanted to rob almost at first to pay off debts he felt were unfair or maybe he even had debts that were unfair….. and ended up shooting one person
people do have debts maybe never get sex at home ect…
all sorts of people have double lives going on and this guy accidently shot someone
he may have never stolen anything until this day
and this girl who claims he pushed her up against a wall well everytime anything happens people suddenly start claiming they knew he was some psycho but never before the fact
would he really take some underwear home?

this guy may have been some creep like millions of married men cheating on their wives or with some debt for some reason after losing big one night at the tables and now he is suddenly a “psychopath”
these psychiatrists are the world’s biggest joke that is what they are along with cops and other people who are never there until after something happens
casey anthony is suddenly a psychopath also not just some girl who got talked into keeping some child as a teenager by her religious psycho parents
they do it to every case that appears on tv
these stupid labels on everyone
there are also people who never do anything seriously dangerous and get labelled wrongly
it goes either way and usually the wrong way

he lost big at the tables and decided to collect a couple grand cause he has a gambling habit and something went wrong when she got real fiesty and now he is a “psychopath”
i’m totally doubting that this guy about to be married had those panties in his apt
they want a good case and that could be some extra shit they threw in to get a good case going that this guy is some nut
maybe he is the right guy but cops have done that to seal up some case and make it better

some pretty honest guy who maybe hasn’t actually done much bad stuff other than traffic inhis entire life, suddenly does this..and felt justified to do this for some reason and a robbery gone bad is what happened and they wanted sex from him for money so he felt justified (maybe) and people will come out of the woodwork to try and make him out to be some sexual pervert or something
if he was he would’ve raped them possibly violently
