Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is running for “re-election and he has adopted President Obama’s famous campaign slogan of “yes we can”. I don’t know how many times we heard “yes we can” from the President; but we are getting ready to hear more, from a different president this time. Read more, see photos and a video below.
On June 12th, Iran will hold elections for President; on June 12th Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will win. But before that, he is adopting the winning slogan of our “humble” leader and that slogan is “yes we can”. Ahmadinejad is releasing a campaign video in which he states “yes we can”. Don’t you just wish he would?
President Obama seemingly hypnotized enough people with the slogan “yes we can” to sweep into the White House. Ahmadinejad hopes the slogan will do the same for him. In the video, Ahmadinejad is standing in front of a blackboard and pointing to the slogan in Farsi; Ma Mitavanim (We Can).
The campaign video is supposedly aimed at students and tries to capitalize on his background as a college lecturer; no, not at Columbia University, somewhere in Iran I assume. “Yes we can”, continue to destroy the United States of America from within. From the Guardian:
Ahmadinejad’s surprise election win four years ago was partly attributed to a promotional film that depicted him as a humble man who empathised with the poor.
Hmmm, that description sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Well, I can only hope for the people of Iran that the slogan “yes we can”, doesn’t bode as sourly for them as it did for us. My prediction, Ahmadinejad in a landslide; “yes we can” or not.

this isn’t anything new. Ahamdinejad’s slogan in 2005 was also ‘yes we can’.

So Ali - you’re saying that Obama got his slogan from Ahmadinejad rather than the other way around.

I just listened to former Sloan Fellow Danny L. McDaniel on television who said Ahmadinejad coined the phrase in Iran four or five years ago. Is this true? McDaniel didn’t say that the Obama campaign copied or borrowed the slogan but he sure came close.
