The 2009 AIPAC Convention has created headlines with increasing concerns over the Obama Administrations support of Israel. Two primary headlines are that Newt Gingrich came out with a strong warning about the perceived weakness of our current government and Rahm Emanuel’s warning that the U.S. would not thwart Iranian nukes unless Israel made progress in talks with Palestine. Read about it below and see the video.
Rahm Emanuel made waves today when news leaked that he had met behind closed doors with major donors and told them that thwarting Iran’s nuclear program is conditional on progress in peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. As you might imagine, this has created rippling news stories in Israel and among people who pay attention to what is going on in the United States.
One has to wonder whether this is Obama’s actual policy or if its a cover story. Are they conniving enough to come up with this elaborate story? Well, they’ve been politically clever so far. Nothing every accidentally ‘leaks’ to the world from private meetings … or does it? That leaves one to wonder if Obama’s people are attempting to send a message to the Arab world that the United States no longer will help Israel with Iran’s potential nukes unless Israel makes progress in talks with Palestine. There’s not a definition as to what ‘progress’ means and Emanuel would certainly be the right messenger for this particular message. His Jewish roots are as strong as anyone’s in Obama’s inner circle.
Regardless of what we (the United States) do or say, we will be blamed and accused if and when Israel strikes Iran. That is just a fact. Perhaps an attempt to send the message out that the U.S. isn’t as supportive of Israel as we have been in the past is an attempt to give more moderate Muslim nations the opportunity to turn a blind eye when Israel takes out Iran’s nukes. Jordan, Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations don’t want Iran to have nuclear capabilities either.
The Obama Administration is playing with fire if that is their plan. As soon as Israel hits Iran, then it is highly likely that will trigger full blown war in the Middle East and jihadist cells in the United States are likely to be activated. Of course, that’s just one possible scenario.
Regardless, the rhetoric coming out of Iran is provocative, threatening and incendiary. Israel is being forced into taking action for her very survival. These are dangerous days and we can only hope that there is more going on behind the scenes that we aren’t seeing. We certainly aren’t showing the world strength or a commitment to our own security and safety.
Yesterday, Newt Gingrich addressed the apparent lack of support for Israel and seeming weakness of the Obama Administration. On the opening day of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), Gingrich blasted the Obama Administration warning that his foreign policies are endangering Israel, that his attempts to ‘talk’ with Iran is a ‘fantasy’ and that his approach to Middle East policy is ‘the clearest adoption of weakness since Jimmy Carter.’
Here are more strong words from Newt Gingrich to Obama:
In 1909, virtually nobody in England would have believed the British Empire was about to disintegrate and the world would never recover from the shattering cost of WW I.
In 1939, decent people were trying desperately to avoid the reality of Adolph Hitler. Winston Churchill said WW II was the unnecessary war; it could have been avoided if any of the European democracies had the courage to confront Hitler earlier.
In 1979, the Soviet Empire was on the march, everyone wanted detente. Along came one person, Ronald Reagan. A reporter asked him his vision of the end of the Cold War. He said: “we win, they lose.”
Reagan understood something very profound. In concert with Pope John Paul II and Margaret Thatcher, he brought to bear pressures which in eleven years caused the Soviet Union to disappear.
We now are facing decisions which in the future will have our children recognizing whether we today were in 1939 or in 1979.
If we have the courage to confront the truth, we will be surprised by the speed with which our enemies collapse.
The first key to the Reagan strategy was recognizing confronting evil head on was the single most powerful step that could be taken. That would mean suspending Iran’s right to vote in the United Nations as long as its president called for the destruction of Israel.

I just wrote to my congressman and told him to have some backbone and stand up to AIPAC
When half the Congressmen show up at a pro israeli lobby dinner and have to stand up for a “roll call” of support for whatever the current Israeli policy you know who is the puppet and who is pullng the strings.
If America has to beg Israel for permission everytime it wants to breath, we should just pay our taxes to Israel instead of the US government
I for one and tired of the extremist in Israel and Palestine running the show. They’ve had 60 years to settle their differences and they are not a step closer to a peaceful solution. Their methods have failed for the past 60 years.
Time for new solutions
