The latest cost of the Air Force One flyover of New York City is the job of the Director of the White House Military Office. That would be Louis Caldera who resigned, taking the fall for the embarrassing gaffe perpetrated on the people of lower Manhattan last week. Read about it below and see THE photo, an uncropped photo and a video.
Barack Obama has taken responsibility for the almost unbelievable gaffe of sending Air Force One careening over Lower Manhattan with two Air Force jets chasing it. As you might recall, this incident on April 27, 2009, scared the living pee doodle out of the people of New York City, sending people fleeing their offices for fear of their lives. When I say that the President took responsibility, I mean that he took the responsibility of placing the blame squarely on the shoulders of his Director of the White House Military Office.
I’m really kind of surprised he didn’t say that he inherited the problem from George W. Bush. After all, the attacks of September 11, 2001 happened when Bush was president. But I suppose one of his advisers probably told him that excuse was wearing a little thin.
Be that as it may, the Air Force One flyover cost taxpayers $328,835. The transparent Obama Administration didn’t want to release the photos. Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said there was plenty of archival footage of the incident, they didn’t need to release the photos. They eventually did release ONE photo of the incident. That’s one expensive photo.
It got more expensive when the White House Military Office director Louis Caldera had to resign because of this ‘distraction’ that occurred. I suppose he’ll be drawing unemployment now. The unemployment statistics just keep rising. The ‘distractions‘ of the Obama Administration are piling up almost faster than they can apologize for them. The point is, they are telling us to move on and leave this unfortunate incident behind us. He has a lot of distribution of wealth to do and doesn’t need upset Americans getting in his way.
The internal investigation of the Air Force One flyover fiasco is as much a cause for concern as the idea that someone thought this was a good idea to begin with. Oh, and the idea that there was no one in the entire chain of command that put the brakes on it. Or the idea that there doesn’t seem to be anyone actually IN CHARGE at the White House and there is an unprecedented vacuum of leadership in our nation. Other than all those concerns, the internal review that has been published documents an embarrassing level of incompetence from one end of the spectrum to the other. Who said what to who and when? Who knows, its all casual conversations, asides in hallways, unread emails, missed phone calls, not being in the office and ‘I took too many pain pills, whoops’.
Seriously, IS THERE AN ADULT IN THE WHITE HOUSE?
Here is the uncropped version of the flyover photo the White House released, thanks to Wizbang! There’s also a video of the flyover.
