While the main stream media and the far left have been having a blast with mean-spirited attacks on and attempts to destroy the reputation of Miss California, Carrie Prejean, it turns out the most American support her, including Barack Obama. Read about it below, see photos and a video of the report.
I’m actually surprised that the polls only show 55% of Americans support Carrie Prejean, but then I often wonder who ‘they’ call to do those polls. I know I’ve never been called, but I have a friend in Boston who tells me he gets called often to answer poll questions. Maybe ‘they’ are more interested in the opinions of Bostonians than they are of Southerners. That wouldn’t surprise me at all.
Despite the fact that there seems to be a ridiculously low margin of people who are willing to say that they support Prejean, its still a majority of the people. It seems to me that this isn’t a moratorium on whether or not homosexual people should have the same rights as heterosexual people. Its not about whether Prejean showed some class and … dare I say it … courage, to say something that was certainly not the politically correct thing to say in a forum that is not conducive to those kinds of firebomb questions. Its not even about the lack of class and dignity exhibited by the pageant ‘judge’, Perez Hilton, who took it upon himself to interject his own activist agenda into a fluff pageant and then use it to promote his blog, himself and go into very nasty and mean-spirited rants degrading Prejean as best he could. Well, its the drama that keeps his readers coming to his blog.
This has really tuned into an issue of free speech, a right granted to us by the Constitution of the United States and under brutal assault by the far left. Free speech, as per the newest caretakers of our Republic, depends on what speech you use. Its relative and narrowly defined by them.
Its free speech when Wanda Sikes wishes death on Rush Limbaugh at what should have been a dignified White House dinner with the President. Its reason for slander, smear tactics, threats and more if its a Christian beauty queen who gives a politically incorrect opinion in a non-judgmental manner.
I’ve seen all sorts of slander on the internet about her. There are rumors of nude photos of her. Those turned out to be her modeling underwear for a catalog. But since the nude photo rumor was put out there, there are people who believe they are out there and that she’s a ‘hypocrite’ for claiming she’s a Christian. Just like with so many things in our culture, rumors are put out there as fact and many people just take it as fact. The damage is done regardless of what the truth of the matter is.
Okay, here is the topless photo of the country’s most prominent opponent of gay marriage. [Thanks again to The Deceiver]
Carrie Prejean said “We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite[-sex] marriage,” and then revealed that she felt a marriage should be between a man and a woman. She was vilified for that, called a ‘dumb bitch’ and worse.
Barack Obama had his press secretary, Robert Gibbs say this:
TAPPER: Does the president or the White House have a reaction to the governor of Maine signing a same-sex marriage bill?
GIBBS: No, I think the president’s position on same-sex marriage is — has been talked about and discussed.
TAPPER: He opposes same-sex marriage?
GIBBS: He supports civil unions.
TAPPER: Does that mean that he’s going to say or do anything against what the citizens of Maine did — did today?
GIBBS: Not that I’m aware of. I think the president believes this is an issue that’s best addressed by the states.
There’s no substantial difference between the two and as The Deceiver points out, he’s got more power over the issue than Ms. Prejean does. But hey. He’s Obama and nobody is going to threaten, smear or call him a ‘dumb bitch’. I bet Perez Hilton even voted for him.
The people in power in our government right now are continuing to present themselves as victims. Someone needs to tell them they have power, complete power right now. Who is victimizing them? Who is really being victimized?
These efforts to suppress free speech need to be taken seriously. Its Carrie Prejean today, who will it be tomorrow? How far will people go to stop others from saying things they don’t like? This is a dangerous trend.

55% ?????
I’ve read hundreds of posts on this and that number is absurd. I would say 75% of people that reply to blogs have realized the true nature of this witch hunt. That even includes some gays.

It is a matter of free speech. Miss California should be free to state her opinion as an individual and in the process those who disagree with her should also be able to express their opinion as well. The difference is that Miss California is representing the people of California and the Miss USA and Miss California pageant. She freely signed the contracts limiting her public appearances and subjecting those appearances to the scrutiny and approval of the pageant officials. In effect, voluntarily limiting her right to “free speech” while she wears the Miss California crown. If she wants to make her living now off the church circuit, she needs to accept the consequences of her decision to breach the legal contract she signed. Everyone should be entitled to free speech, however take the consequences for opening your mouth without a social filter and for breaching a contract your freely entered.
Also, Christian literally means “Christ like”. So what faith are you people from who actually believe that fake breasts and posing topless at 17 years old, or any age, should be considered “Christ-like”? If you truly believed the scriptures and uniformly held everyone to the same biblical standards, Miss California should be stoned. But clearly, you Christians only believe in portions of the Bible that you can use to attack others, and refuse to hold yourselves to the same standards. Your children are running wild, having sex and becoming pregnant. You cheat on your spouses, murder your own children, molest children in churches, buy video games while over half the world is starving … you condemn gays for 2-3 remote verses in the bible while there are literally hundreds of scriptures that condemn each of you for your lusts, envy, corruption, greed, gluttony, and vanity.
How bout for a change, you “christians” take a look at the seven deadly sins and the ten commandments and purify you own lives of your abominations before you start condemning your neighbors.

Theo N, that is the most thoughtful, well-informed, and well-written summary of the Prejean situation I have heard so far.

Ms. Prejean is not being attacked for the answer she gave at the Miss USA pageant. She is being called out for thumbing her nose at the people who gave her money and new breasts and a Miss California sash, while she STILL WEARS THE SASH. Her detractors are just saying, give back the sash if you don’t want to follow the rules in the contract you signed. She is free to get a job working for Fox News (which I have no doubt she will do) and spread her homo hating all over the world, just not as Miss California. And it looks like there’s no love lost between either party so I bet she decides to step down and devote herself full time to promoting “opposite marriage” while she remains a single woman.

I can’t stand Perez Hilton. But Carrie Prejean is a bubble-headed showboater, too. It was OK to say what she said at the pageant, but now she’s working it for all it’s worth. She’s supposed to be opening malls and riding in the Disneyland parade. Instead, she’s making political ads and talking about how God spoke to her onstage. Plus more nude photos of her come to light every day (and yes, they are nude photos, not underwear ads). She (and Perez Hilton) should gooooo away. The runner up girl is much cuter.
BTW, Wanda Sykes–who was neither particularly funny, nor particularly horrible–was NOT speaking at a “dignified White House dinner”. She was speaking at the Washington Correspondents Dinner, which takes place in a hotel (not at the White House) and which has a tradition of being anything *but* dignified (this is the event at which President Bush was shown searching under his desk for weapons of mass destruction). I know blogs have low standards for “truthiness,” but if you’re going to write about something, please have some slight clue what you’re talking about.

Carrie Prejean should be commended for standing up for what is morally correct and healthy! Those who are slandering her should go away. The silent majority is getting restless.

alright folks, for real. would we even be having this conversation if ms. prejean had said “i believe marriage should be between a white man and a white woman. that’s just the way i was raised.” she would be booed by all and considered narrow-minded. DISCRIMINATION is DISCRIMINATION. bigots should not have a platform in today’s day and age. she should lose her crown.

I love when people make this argument. IT CHANGES NOTHING! Then 55% of Americans are BIGOTS including President Obama! He just happened to be the least bigoted of the crew, and that’s the only reason he got the gay vote. Put a serious candidate up against him who supports full marriage equality, and we’re f$%&ing gone!

People who are shallow and have no argument use the word bigot…Why should it be bigotry to have an opinion? Isn’t that our right? Oh yea, some don’t want to hear an opinion…I mean…we are socialists now aren’t we? The British also had the right to not hear anything the colonists had to say.

“Ms. Prejean is not being attacked for the answer she gave at the Miss USA pageant. She is being called out for thumbing her nose at the people who gave her money and new breasts and a Miss California sash, while she STILL WEARS THE SASH.”
None of which you would know or care about if she hadn’t given that answer.
