I’ve never particularly thought David Letterman was funny. He just has never appealed to me. I’ve always thought his jokes seemed more mean-spirited than funny, regardless of what he’s joking about. He also seemed to me to think his own jokes were much funnier than anyone else thinks they are.
All of that seems to have gotten a lot worse lately. Or maybe its just irritating me more. He just seems like an old man who makes jokes in the vein of an adolescent bully on the playground.
He’s been on a roll about Sarah Palin since her recent trip to New York in support of causes related to finding a cure for autism and honoring William Seward, the former secretary of state who bought Alaska from Russia. First, he had her in his Top 10 list. Among the ‘jokes’ in his list was a comment about her ‘Slutty Flight Attendant look’. He’s calling the Governor of Alaska a ’slut’? That’s pretty low-down and low-class, not to mention misogynistic.
It gets worse though. In the monologue, he goes after Palin’s 14-year-old daughter, Willow Palin. He ‘jokes’ about her going to the Yankees’ game with her mother and Rudy and Judith Giuliani. His joke has to do with Sarah Palin’s minor daughter getting ‘raped’ and ‘knocked up’ by Alex Rodriguez during the game.
The leftists have had no problem attacking Sarah Palin’s entire family (including her very young children) since she came into the national spotlight. Can you imagine if the media went after Sasha or Malia Obama the same way they have gone after all of Palin’s children? They have reported lies as fact about Palin, her husband and all of her children. Its unprecedented, irresponsible, mean-spirited and disgusting.
I really don’t think David Letterman has a lot of room to talk about ‘class’. This is a guy who ‘knocked-up’ his long time live in girlfriend when he was in his 60s and waited about six or eight years to marry the mother of his son. He caters to the hollywood elite and would never bite the hands that feed him. But he has no qualms about going after Governors who have worked their way up the latter of success. I guess strong women who are also attractive are pretty threatening to the liberal left.

One. I don’t watch Letterman. He’s not funny. well except to the crowd that does follow him and they are pretty much worthless, anyway.
Two. Seeing as Todd Palin cannot act due his circumstances and the fact that the leftards would have a batch of kittens, I volunteer.
To David Letterman: For such reprehensible behaviour, you are cordially invited to meet me in the street in front of my house. We will strip to the waist and go for it. At that point you, Mr. Letterman, will receive the thrashing that you so richly deserve.

If Sarah Palin is SO silly and irrelevant, why the obsession? Clearly the Left noted her appeal, and are out to eliminate the threat- it’s not like it’s not obvious.
And she’s been highly successful in life while ignoring the left-wing feminist model… this helps to explain the extra dose of venom in the attacks.
Of course, the Democrats are plenty afraid of Palin coming-back at them in 2012 with a dynamic and complementary VP like Bobby Jindal… or visa versa.
And they surely have reason to fear her- Palin is the most popular governor in the country… are all those people idiots? Alaska was a pretty corrupt system until she stepped in. Her reforms took on entrenched politicians (inc. Republicans), a mafioso-style union boss, and Big Oil.
Wouldn’t it have been nice if Obama had been principled and brave enough to confront the corrupt Chicago Democratic Machine?
Or shady political operators like Tony Rezko?
Racist preachers?
Instead of doing business with every last one of them?
Go get em, Sarah- and don’t mind the press, nobody will be listening to them anymore after the pending Obamamania implosion- and once the ties of GE and others with media holdings to the Obama administration are fully exposed.

David Letterman seems to be one of the few people in the media that is willing to tell the truth and say what the vast majority of the country is thinking. WAY TO GO DAVE!

Glenn I whole heartedly agree with you. The man stepped way over the line. I would hope there would be repercussions for him but I doubt this will happen. Perhaps it’s about time for him to retire and just go away in disgrace. And as for YouAreAllDelerious, if you think Letterman’s inappropriate jokes about Sarah Palin’s 14 year old daughter is telling the truth about what the vast majority of the country is thinking, well you are seriously misguided or you are living in another country other then the USA. Times are tough here but I know that the majority of this country would agree that Letterman was way out of line. If it was my daughter he made those comments about I would want to punch him right in the mouth and shut him up for good.

The difference between Liberal Dems and Conservatives becomes clearer by the day. Take David the crapper Letterman for example. (in regards to the venomous comments made recently about the Palin family that came out from the hole in his lower face. David Letterman is a typical piece of common trash and I don’t expect any better from this commonfolk
You’ll find the average liberal dem to be a rather simple, typically uneducated and part of a bigger crowd that usually does not think for themselves. They are typically always mad, makes constant personal attacks that are extremely venomous. That happens when their arguments run out of steam.

First, I watched the bit on TV news this morning and, without the back story that Ms. Palin had taken only her 14-year old daughter to the game, you can’t tell which daughter he was referring to. He simply says ‘her daughter’.
So, if he was referring to Bristol (the 18-year old), he’s guilty of being vicious, insulting and not funny. I’m not a fan but I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and not assume he was talking about Willow (the 14-year old).
On the other hand, if he had actually said ‘Willow’ or her ‘younger daughter’ or something else specific to indicate Willow, I would be joining you in calling for his resignation, and arrest if we caould find a law that applied. I’d also be standing in line behind the ‘Old Retired Seadog’. Even if just mop up bloody mess he’d make out of the SOB!
