Vincent Smith II: New Jersey Man dies in Chocolate Vat
Vincent Smith II, New Jersey Man dies in Chocolate Vat – The 29-year-old temporary worker at Cocoa Services Inc plant in Camden, New Jersey fell into an approximately 8 foot deep vat of chocolate on Wednesday. He and four other workers were working on a platform over an approximately 8 foot deep vat of chocolate. They were pouring solid chocolate pieces into the vat for melting when he somehow slipped and fell into the boiling hot chocolate vat.
Co-workers said they heard the man scream but were helpless to do anything to save his life.
The factor was closed immediately after the accident and inspectors from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration arrived on the scene to investigate the accident. Its been determined that he was killed when he was hit by a piece of equipment called the agitator, which is used to stir the chocolate. It appears that he died instantly when he was hit in the head by the agitator and there are no signs of foul play.
It was just a horrible freak accident!
The Cocoa Services, Inc. plant is operated by Lyons and Sons and makes chocolate for Hershey’s.
