Over the weekend, the creators of the hit ABC series ‘Lost’ talked to fans about what to expect for the lost final season, 2010. They revealed that some ‘Lost’ characters return for the last season, including Juliette. Who else returns from the first season? Read about it below and see photos and a videos.
As anyone who is addicted to the hit television series ‘Lost’ knows, the May 2009 finale ended with the castaways detonating a bomb on the mysterious island in hopes of resetting time so that they could go back to their lives before the crash of Oceanic 815. So what happens? We also know that the 2010 season of ‘Lost’ is the last season and all the mysteries, well most of them, will be answered and wrapped up by the end of the season. So at the end of the season will we see the Oceanic passengers deplaning in Los Angeles after their flight from Australia, without incident? Will they all debark the plane without incident and without knowing one another? The creators of the series tell us not to worry, it won’t be wrapped in a pretty bow, a canned ending that will leave us feeling cheated.
Fans camped overnight to be at the ‘Lost’ panel at the Comic-Con in San Diego over the weekend, the pop-culture convention’s largest ballroom, that was reserved for a panel to discuss the last season of the uber-popular television series. A panel included in the show’s creators, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. They talked to the fans about what to expect and dropped a few, scant few, hints about what will be coming in the final episodes of the cult classic.
Some of the tidbits that were revealed include that we can expect to see some of the previous characters returning to the final season. It could be a ‘Lost’ reunion of sorts. Lindelof said that we could possibly see characters we haven’t seen since the first season. The producers also revealed that the final season will be similar to the first season in that it will involve the characters running around the jungle, a feeling of intensity and surprise and an emotional discovery of the characters. They plan to revive that for the final season.
The producers promise that the ending will not be a ‘cheat’. There won’t be any ‘reset’ button, they won’t be in a snow globe and there won’t be a cheesy ending. Everything that has happened in the time the castaways have been on the island (and off) won’t be invalidated. Still they left the ending a mystery. They ask us to trust them.
The final season will employ a narrative technique that has not been used before on the show. There will be no more time-travel or flash-forward. Its going to be something different. There won’t be much about the Dharma Initiative in the final season, but we will learn about the mysterious Dharma food drops. They also promise that the important questions will be answered. I just hope their idea of important questions are the same as mine.
And about Jacob. No, he has not appeared as another character on the show as his yet unnamed nemesis was revealed to have done in last season’s finale.
Videos from the panel can be seen here.
