It has been reported that Pakistani Taliban Leader Baitullah Mehsud, who was one of America’s most wanted with a $5.000.000 bounty on his head for various suicide attacks and assassinations, has been killed in a US Air strike. See a video below.
The target for the US missile strike that took place Waziristan, was the house of Baitullah’s father in law. His wife has been killed in the attack and it it now being reported that Pakistan’s Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud has been killed in the attack while visiting his wife. So far there is no identification of a body also the Taliban haven’t released a statement yet.
The CIA and saw him as a chief suspect in the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, which he has denied. He had also vowed to send more suicide bombers to kill US troops in Afghanistan.
Baitullah Mehsud and his militants are an ally of al Qaeda. It has been speculated that with his own men, he has 10,000 to over 20,000 fighters that are in the mountains of South Waziristan.
It is believed that his death would not be a big turning point, as another leader would raise within his ranks quickly.

Now that we’ve killed the Taliban leader, Mehsud, does that mean that the for all practical purposes the Afghanistan war is over? Can we start bringing our troops home? Or will that only escalate the conflict? If that’s the case, why bother to capture or kill Osama bin Laden, as our President is bent on doing? Nothing about this war makes any sense.
