Barney Frank Town Hall: Dartmouth Town Meeting; Entertaining

In Dartmouth, Massachusetts tonight a Barney Frank town hall broke out in what was supposed to be the Dartmouth Democratic Town Committee Meeting. The crowd, surprisingly critical of Frank and the proposed bill, gave Rep. Frank an earful about several issues including healthcare.

Rep. Barney Frank

Barney Frank, the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, agreed to speak at the town committee meeting. He took questions on issues ranging from the bank bailouts to the hottest topic, healthcare. There will be a Barney Frank town hall specifically for healthcare at a yet to be determined date.

The Barney Frank town hall was somewhat of a surprise; the majority of town halls have been met with opposition to the democrats proposed healthcare bill, Frank is a strong proponent of a single payer healthcare system. He found out in Dartmouth just how much his own constituents dislike the idea.

Democrats and the White House in recent days have see-sawed on the topic of a public option which of course would lead to a single payer system. First Kathleen Sebelius “misspoke” on CNN about a public option not being essential. And the President himself even alluded to that fact in one of his town halls in Montana. Now democrats, led by Nancy Pelosi, have begun to put pressure on Obama to stop with the non-public option talk.

A Barney Frank town hall is a very entertaining thing to watch. Mr. Frank gets very flustered when he is pushed on any issue in which someone disagrees with him. Tonight’s meeting was no different. At one point Frank said in response to criticism:

“Do you really think that advances your argument? I mean, I thought you were thoughtful people here to have a conversation.”

I guess you’re only considered thoughtful at a Barney Frank town hall if you agree with the congressman.

What a badly written piece. As a news article it weighs way to heavily into personal opinion to be anything but an editorial. As an editorial however, it poses no argument – only again, unsupported opinion. Sad piece of journalism – if it even deserves that moniker.

No, I think you are only considered thoughtful at one of Congressman Frank’s meetings if you refrain from calling the President of the United States a Nazi.

Thank you Mr. Franks for being right to the point in regards to people believing lies and rumors and NOT obtaining an education on the matter BEFORE they voice an opinion in a civilized manner
I believe these radical groups organized to disrupt these town meetings and advertise false information are guilty of terrorism as witnessed by those who are obviously scared
by what they hear and believe without knowing the truth..

This is the same socialist propaganda that was going on in Germany during WWII. This resulted in a leader who was left, radical, believed in change, and believed in taking away rights from people who he believed didn’t deserve them. I believe that the woman had every right to display Obama as Hitler. They are two in the same. He being an openly gay Jewish man should understand when you try to change people’s constitutional right with legislation; there will be an up rise of people. Why does Frank avoid the question and then reference the first amendment? It seems that is his next agenda, after he finishes screwing up his oversight of the housing financial system. Believe it or not Bush pushed for stronger oversight from the treasury but Frank opposed it in 2003! He mentions “is a tribute to the First Amendment that this kind of vile, contemptible nonsense is so freely propagated.” sounds like the he doesn’t want the woman to have the right to deface Obama. Down with Barney Frank!!!(vote him out of office for the liberal sensitive)

Casey, there was no question to avoid. Her question was “Why do you continue to support a Nazi policy?” He isn’t supporting Nazi policies, the question is irrelevant and has nothing to do with health care. How ignorant can you really be to say a public option for health care is related to Nazis. He isn’t trying to take away anyone’s constitutional rights. All he is doing is trying to give the public an OPTION for health care. That is even what he said his vote is for on the video, not single payer. Where are all these brainwashed people coming from? Millions of Americans have no health care. Why are so many people against saving lives.
