Former Miss California Carrie Prejean is suing California Pageant officials for Religious discrimination, slander, and emotional distress. The Carrie Prejean lawsuit is the next logical step in the saga that is and has become the Miss USA controversy of 2009. Carrie Prejean lost her Miss California title when officials cited a breach of contract by the Miss USA runner-up.

For those of you who may have been living under a rock the last several months, Carrie Prejean Miss California at the time was asked by celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton ( who just happens to be gay) what her stance on gay marriage was. Miss Prejean answered that she believed marriage should be between a man and a woman and all hell broke loose.
The Carrie Prejean lawsuit against Miss California USA alleges that Pageant officials emailed Prejean before the Miss USA competition warning her not to reference God in her Miss USA applications. Carrie Prejean contends that if she had not given the answer to Perez Hilton that she gave, she would still be Miss California. From Fox News:
According to the suit, Prejean believes Lewis, Moakler and Neal joined gossip blogger Perez Hilton to create a “conspiracy to attack” that has caused her to suffer “emotional distress, anxiety, depression and loss of sleep.” As a consequence, the suit alleges, Prejean has been subject to “public ridicule, scorn and humiliation, lost earnings,” and has had to spend a great deal of money with stress-related medical expenses.
The Carrie Prejean lawsuit names Keith Lewis and Shanna Moakler co-executive directors as well as publicist Roger Neal. It also alleges that those named leaked information about her breast augmentation surgery to the media violating her privacy rights.
Miss California USA fired Carrie Prejean back in June after they said she missed several scheduled appearances; Prejean has always contended that wasn’t the case. The Carrie Prejean lawsuit doesn’t name Donald Trump the owner of the Miss USA pageant or Perez Hilton, who should probably be sued just for being an idiot.
