The Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, arguably the most powerful committee in congress, has a problem. Charlie Rangel, democrat from New York not only has tax problems, now he’s playing the race card when it comes to Obama’s problems with healthcare. The Charlie Rangel scandal wasn’t enough controversy for the 73 year old Rep., he also felt the need to make a lot of white people mad at him in the process.
The House ethics committee currently has an ongoing probe into the Charlie Rangel scandal which consists of un-declared income to the tune of millions of dollars. Rangel had previously not told the IRS about investment properties he owns in the Dominican Republic, lots in New Jersey, Pepsi stock, as well as a checking and investment account worth half a million dollars.
The embattled chairman is now being asked to resign his post as chairman of the committee that is responsible for writing U.S. tax code. He was formerly asked to step down from House Republican leader Jon Boehner, but the Rangel scandal is even too much for the left leaning Washington Post to take. The paper is asking Charlie Rangel to step aside as well.
Now with that being said, you’d think Rep. Charlie Rangel would want to lay low for a while; not so much. Charlie Rangel is now playing the race card, while trying to help push Obamacare through. Rangel said, “Some Americans have not gotten over the fact that Obama is President of the United States. They go to sleep wondering, how did this happen?” From CBS2 in New York:
Why do black people have to bargain for what is theirs? Why do we have to wait for the right to vote? Why can’t we get what God has given us? And that is the right to live as human beings and not negotiate with white southerners and not court the votes. Just do the right thing,” Rangel said.
So not only does the Chairman conveniently forget about income to be reported to the IRS, tax cheat Rangel plays the race card; the most controversial thing he could possibly do. It also appears that Charlie Rangel’s staff has filed amended tax returns too. Isn’t it nice to know that the House Ways and Means committee, the committee responsible for writing the tax code is full of members and staffers who are having tax problems?
The Charlie Rangel scandal grows by the day, I would be shocked if he dropped his post. Nancy Pelosi is on his side, and the ethics committee is run by democrats. And as far as the tax cheat Rangel playing the race card, that’s just what liberals do.

Wow. A Bush-enabler, Washington Post is Left Leaning? Holy butterflies Batman, the WaPo is as bad as the WSJ in its’ neo-con leaning sympathies.
I don’t know how bad Rep Rangel has screwed up, but your slanted reporting means I need to look elsewhere.

Wow chief, you actually think the Washington Post is a conservative publication? And yes this is a conservative blog, but my report is just the facts with a little opinion thrown in.
Rangel is scum, and he should go.

I noticed that none of the MSNBC nighttime opinion lineup (Matthews, Schultz, Olbermann, Maddow) mentioned Rangel at all last week. It will be interesting to see if they continue that this week. And it was nice to see the Washington Post step up to the plate.

Yeah, pretty shocking that Wapo would call for Rangel to step down from his committee. On the other hand, not surprising at all that MSNBC went dark on the coverage.
