Now why would Jane Fonda boycott the Toronto Film Festival, a perfectly good liberal shindig where filmmakers and actors get together and tell each other how great they are? Well it seems that Israel is being honored just a bit much for Hanoi Jane, so she and Danny Glover along with Eve Ensler are boycotting the festival.
A letter was written to Toronto Film Festival officials complaining that Tel-Aviv is built on “thousands of destroyed Palestinian villages”. You see, a movie in the festival called “City to City” honors Tel-Aviv’s 100th anniversary. The film also spotlights 10 other Israeli cities.
So naturally Danny Glover and Jane Fonda boycott the Toronto Film Festival. It’s the natural course of things; Israel is honored in a leftist environment so crazy leftists boycott the proceedings.
Jane Fonda, despite at one time being a very beautiful woman and decent actress, is at times most notably known for her alter ego of Hanoi Jane. Fonda once decided to protest the Vietnam War by providing aid and comfort to our enemies by planting herself on a Viet Cong anti-aircraft gun. Good thing for her it wasn’t a target at the time.
Rabbi Marvin Hier, a two time Academy Award Winner for documentary films, is criticizing Jane Fonda and the others who signed the letter saying that anyone who would sign the letter would advocate for the complete destruction of Israel. From Haaretz:
“By calling into question the legitimacy of Tel Aviv, they are supporting a one-state solution, which means the destruction of the State of Israel. I applaud the organizers of the festival for celebrating on the 100th anniversary of Tel Aviv. If every city in the Middle East would be as culturally diverse, as open to freedom of expression as Tel Aviv is, then peace would long have come to the Middle East.”
So if you had planned on attending the Toronto Film Festival in hopes of seeing Hanoi Jane I’m sorry, she won’t be there. At 72 years old, Jane Fonda boycotting the Toronto Film Festival shows that she plans on being remembered more for her political activism than for performances like “On Golden Pond”.

So, a few of these so called “big shots” did not go to the festival, who gives a damn. The way it goes these days, Israel needs them like a pimple on the A..

Genocide is not negotiable. Israel was founded on the promise of ethnically cleansing Palestine for the British at the time of the early Zionist settlements. Zionism Enjoyed the unique privilege of being the only
movement allowed its own press in Nazi Germany. Since to paraphrase its’ founder Theodore Hertzl, ‘Zionists appreciate the reasons for antisemitism’. The history of Zionism and Israel including the recent slaughter in Gaza is based on reproducing the ethnic cleansing ‘that made Britain and America great’ the destruction of indigenous peoples for fun and profit. Though racism and xenophobia permeate the whole world, in Israel its codified in its founding documents and constitution. If we are to end the horrors of the last two centuries support for action such as the boycott is crucial. Those who’ve taken a stand noting in particular the Israeli directors who’ve signed on deserve our solidarity and support.

What he says has nothing to do with historical facts… Zionism, as the jewish people’s national liberation movement was illegal in Nazi Germany.

Where was Jane Fonda when Israeli men, women and children were being blown up by Palestinian Suicide bombers, when Hamas violently wrested control of Gaza from the PLO after Israel removed every Israeli from it and left the Palestinians working Greenhouses (which they then destroyed in greedy in-fighting), when Hamas began it’s rain of missiles and rockets into Israel daily for 8 years!? Where was her voice when Arafat plundered the monies given to the Palestinians to build schools and hospitals and businesses, sending them instead to keep his wife’s fancy living in Paris on-going? Where was Jane Fonda when Hamas was killing it’;s own people because they were PLO and keeping it’s residents from leaving Gaza? Where, in fact were Jane and her co-horts each time we discovered another woman being beaten in an Arab country for daring to forget to cover her face or wanting to go to school. Well, of course we could go on and on about the lack of freedom, about the violent treatment of their citizens in these same Arab countries. But Jane is not interested in them. She just wants to “favor” the Jewish State, which,m with all it’s faults, is the most democratic, the most innovative, the most productive country in Middle East and one of the most in the entire world.

Great Job Jane and Danny for such a move. Just becasue we are americans, dosnt mean that we should support Jewish state..Israel is- certianly- a state that was born on the death of other people…

All of Israel’s enemies will be destroyed. This will be accomplished by the Almighty.

Hamas & Hizbullah r actually the by-products of the occupation & oppression of israel. So basically israel created these entities when its people chose to terrorize & submit a whole population starting from 1948.check you cities populations before 1948 you will find te original residents were palestinians not jews.In the end the evil that israel has unleashed in this region has turned around to show its face .thats why israel now has hamas, hizbulah, iran, syria, islamic extremism.this is just the begining of things to come ,israel launched murderous wars against south lebanon and gaza ,witnesed by the whole world ,&with all their power & might couldnt break hizbulah or even hamas.I think israelis need to reconsider their racist approach & need to understand that palestinians are not native indians .they are just not going to disappear.
