One point, though.  I read (Blackfive, I think) that the reason he couldn&#039;t easily resign (and also why the Army was so pathetically slow to discipline or discharge him) was that he was under a long committment to repay the Military years of service in exchange for the cost of his education.  Long repayment committments and ridiculously easy rank advancement are apparently common for enlisted medical personnel (also explains his rank of Major, in spite of his very questionable fitness).

Not that that justified his actions, at all.  You&#039;re 100% right that he&#039;d planned this all out.  I concur with you that he should be treated as a traitor.
