Iran’s nuclear test on Wednesday, December 16, 2009, was a confrontation of their international and domestic rivals and a challenge to the West. They tested a high-speed missile and warned domestic opposition they would be arrested if they protested their nuclear program. The nuclear test of the Sejil-2 surface-to-surface missile was broadcast on Iranian television. A video of reactions to the the nuclear testing is below.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has never made a secret of his desire to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth or his contempt for Western civilization. He’s also never made any attempt to hide or deny his apocalyptic vision for the world. As Iran has moved closer to being a nuclear power, the closer Ahmadinejad gets to his vision for an apocalypse and the return of the Twelfth Iman.

An so, on Wednesday, Iran took a major step towards creating the chaos in the world that would help bring about the return of the 12-Iman and the destruction of Israel and the West. Iran’s defense minister, Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi, praised the test for its quick blastoff time and it’s ability to evade radar detection. He chanted ‘God is great, God is great, God is great’, as the rocket launched.

Iran’s nuclear test is widely considered a violation of United Nations Security Council resolution and was met with strong reactions from Western countries, including the United States and her allies in Europe. Western leaders, including British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, condemned the launch and called for further sanctions against Iran. As if sanctions have had any affect so far.

As with previous rouge nations, U.N. resolution against the development of Iran’s nuclear program and the outrage of Western countries seem to be absolutely toothless and ineffective. Barack Obama’s attempts to engage Iran in talks have been met with contempt and disrespect. The more attempts are made to pacify Iran, the more time they buy to build an arsenal of nuclear weapons and the more dangerous they are to the rest of the world.

The medium-range Sejil-2 rocket tested is more accurate and has a range of 1,200 miles. That means it can easily reach Israel or Southern Europe. It also can be launch from mobile platforms, making it difficult to target in an air-strike.

Iranian officials continue to insist the missiles are being developed for nothing more than their own defense and are not intended to ‘wipe Israel off the face of the earth’ as Ahmadinejad has repeatedly claimed he wants to do.

Here is a video of the launch. Below is a video of responses to Iran’s nuclear test on Wednesday. What do you think of the fact they have developed their nuclear program to this point and is obviously more sophisticated than previously realized?
