Sharon Stone, the actress best known for flashing Michael Douglas in the movie Basic Instincts, has spoken to middle eastern newspapers about her disdain for American policies and most things American. BTW, she’s pictured here in an outfit, including elaborate fur, that probably cost more than I make in a year. I’m just saying …. America has been pretty good to the old girl.

Mz. Stone went to the Dubai International Film Festival in the United Arab Emirates and bad-mouthed the United States to the Arab press. Needless to say, the Arab newspapers have taken her words and run with them, terrorist organizations are applauding her and she’d be real popular there if she’d just put on a burka and keep her legs closed for more than a minute at a time.

CAIRO, Egypt - Hollywood icon Sharon Stone believes the Sept. 11, 2001 bombings of the United States should not have been used as a pretext to launch the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to comments published Monday in a Saudi-owned newspaper.

The actress said in an interview with the Al Hayat daily that she fails to understand how the American public supported those wars to start with, only to denounce their fallout later. She also bemoaned what she called America’s decision to ignore the deaths of so many Iraqis.

“When we choose war, we should understand that we choose murder, bloodletting and torture,” Stone told the newspaper.

“I feel at great pain when the spotlight is on the death of 4,000 American soldiers, while 600,000 Iraqi deaths are ignored . . . War is not a movie, it is a tragedy of dead bodies, victims, the disabled, orphans, widows and the displaced.”

Stone spoke in English and her comments were translated and published in Arabic. An English transcript of the interview was not available.

Al Hayat published only excerpts of the interview, done in December when Stone attended the fourth Dubai International Film Festival in the United Arab Emirates. The paper’s sister publication, Leha, was to publish the entire interview Wednesday.

Stone said she came to the region seeking answers for herself because the U.S. media have failed to provide Americans with the truth and have distorted it instead.

“I feel sad when I realize how much truth is being changed or obscured in the American media,” she said.

This statement is particularly ironic considering that she is so accustomed to being free to say whatever she wants without consequence that she has no idea that she doesn’t have those same freedoms in other countries. She criticizes America for obscuring the truth, yet her words have been cut and edited so that when they are translated in to Arabic she gives encouragement to our enemies.

Stone added she opposes any military conflict with Iran, saying the West should instead negotiate and use other means of pressure on Tehran, such as a trade boycott and sanctions.

The star of “Basic Instinct” and other movies also criticized both Arab countries and Israel for failing to resolve the decades-long key Middle East conflict.

The region is now “addicted” to the status quo and whenever a solution is close, hysteria prevails instead, Stone was quoted as saying. “People sometimes get used to their choices and they fear change.”

In Dubai, Stone also campaigned to raise over US$1 million for AIDS research and awareness about the disease which remains taboo in the Arab world.

I bet you never heard of Dellon Tyler Ward. I hadn’t until I read a little bit about him on another blog. I read it a while ago and it has bothered me every since.

Its bothered me that I had never heard the story. It bothered me because the story was buried on the inside pages of a few newspapers. It bothered me that when I did a google search I only found a handful of articles about him and all those articles were in small local newspapers around the area he is from. Only two blogs were in the google search. Only two blogs had picked up on the story. It bothered me that I couldn’t find a single picture of him in my search. It bothered me that he doesn’t have to be recognized by his appearance and that 99.9% of the people in the United States will never associate him with the treason that he committed against his own country. He will never have to suffer the shame of what he did.

Buried in the middle pages of local newspapers are a mere few comments about an act of treason.

Man sentenced for lying to agents, sparking international military investigation

A Rising Fawn man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for lying about the existence of a fictitious video tape he said depicted “atrocities” committed by U.S. Marines in Iraq.

Dellon Tyler Ward had pleaded guilty months earlier to two counts of knowingly and willfully making materially false, fictitious and fraudulent statements to federal agents about the video footage, which allegedly showed members of the U.S. Marine Corps committing murder in Iraq.

At the sentencing hearing Friday afternoon in Rome, Federal Prosecutor Todd C. Alley reminded U.S. District Judge Harold Murphy that Ward’s lies sparked an international investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

The investigation cost $193,000 and involved pulling U.S. Marines out of combat zones in the spring of 2007.

Ward, 21, apologized for his actions at the hearing and asked for leniency.

After delivering the sentence, Judge Murphy said it was “beyond comprehension for this court why any individual who is a responsible citizen would make up such a tale.”

I saw my son for the first time in two years recently when I went to Germany to visit him. He had just gotten back from a 15 month stint in Baghdad. While I was there, I met quite a few of his combat buddies. They were all men. It was a front line combat unit so there were no women in their area of operations. Every one of them were impressive young men. They were disciplined, educated, exhibited integrity, intelligence, compassion, loyalty and a sense of duty and honor. These are attributes our culture once held in high regard.

My son and others reacted to an attack on America by standing up and saying ‘Send me, I will go’. For being the type of young men (and women) who bring character and strength to a society, they have spent 15 months being shot at, physically and psychologically assaulted in Baghdad and having their integrity, intelligence and dignity assaulted daily in the old media of our own country.

Ruthlace recalls the greatest generation of World War II and the pride with which men served as Marines, Semper Fidelis, Always Faithful. She goes on to say that this is another greatest generation. They are also facing an enemy like none we have ever faced before. I would add they are are also facing that enemy within who is in many ways more dangerous than the one they face who openly admit to being their enemies. They are investigated for any allegation anyone wants to make against them. Their hands are tied. They are held in contempt by the media that goes out of their way to paint them as villains instead of heroes.

Meanwhile, a young man who worked to undermine our military during a time of war says he’s sorry and gets a 15 month prison sentence. A slap on the hand. Men his own age are fighting and sacrificing in deserts on the other side of the world. This young man attempted to undermine their efforts and further endangered them.

Dellon Tyler Ward is guilty of treason and only received 15 months in prison.

The old media is only interested in false accusations made against our Marines or the hijinks of some low level, poorly disciplined troops. They aren’t interested in righting wrongs committed against our Men at Arms.

God help us if this trend doesn’t change.

Honestly, I have a hard time writing anything about John ‘The Saboteur’ Murtha. The man disgusts me. I’ve written pages and pages about his lies and just as many pages about the high profile the old media gave his lies.

I have asked people what they think about the Marines who were involved in the Haditha incident. Most don’t remember the name ‘Haditha’, but when you remind them of the incident they respond that the Marines went into the village and killed innocent women and children. For people who don’t play that close attention to the news, that is what they believe to be fact. That’s the accusation that a United States Congressman made against a group of Marines. That’s the news that had headlines for weeks, if not months. If you don’t follow it as closely as those of us with a special interest in it, that’s what they believe.

That is not the truth and it is not what happened.

The truth of the Marines’ story may or may not be a quick comment hidden on page 15 of the paper. Its just a footnote. The accusation was the news.

John Murtha lied to the people of the United States. He lied about the Marines. He wanted to garner favors from his party when they took power in November. He wanted to be Majority Leader so he stood up before the American people and accused our Marines of murdering civilians in ‘cold blood’. Those Marines careers were ruined, their reputations stained and they spent two years in prison awaiting their court martials. On a party-wide scale, the purpose was to use that as a scandal against the President. On a personal level, those Marines were forced to make those sacrifices to further the career of a corrupt career politician.

Diana Irey worked hard to unseat Murtha in the last election. Her campaign didn’t have a chance against Murtha’s money and connections. The people of Pennsylvania voted him back into office regardless of his traitorous words and actions. He is proof positive that enough money can buy you anything, even votes.

I read over at Michelle Malkin that another GOP candidate is poised to take on Murtha.

A career Army member left the service two years short of retirement to move here and try his hand at politics by challenging longtime Democratic U.S. Rep. John Murtha.

First-time candidate William T. Russell, 45, a Republican, acknowledged that taking on a popular, 18-term congressman in the 2008 election will be “an uphill battle.”

“But it’s one that must be fought,” Russell told the Tribune-Democrat in Johnstown.

Russell plans to formally announce his candidacy within weeks. Murtha has declined comment on the challenge.

Murtha, 75, has served in the House since 1974 and is known for bringing money and jobs — especially in the defense industries — to his district in rural Pennsylvania. A decorated Vietnam veteran and Marine Reserves colonel who previously had been hawkish on war issues, Murtha has criticized the Iraq war and pushed for the troops to be brought home. He became chairman of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee last year.

Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey ran against Murtha last year, trying to capitalize on the backlash against Murtha’s views among conservatives. She was soundly beaten in the general election.

Russell, who moved from the Washington, D.C., area to Murtha’s district specifically to take on the congressman, has a long Army and Army Reserve career that includes tours of duty in the Balkans and both Iraq wars. He and his wife, Kasia, were in the Pentagon when a hijacked airliner slammed into the building on Sept. 11, 2001. Both escaped unhurt.

Murtha’s call for troop withdrawal from Iraq “is just flat-out wrong,” Russell said. Like Irey, Russell also criticized Murtha’s public allegations that unnamed U.S. soldiers committed “cold-blooded murder and war crimes” against innocent Iraqi civilians in Haditha in 2005.

A small-business owner, Russell said he wants a local economy dependent on the free market. But he acknowledges some jobs may be lost if government contracts disappear.

At some point, surely, the good people of the 12th District of Pennsylvania will have had enough of the shame that is John Murtha.

This is the new left. This makes sense to these people. Its all about intellectual debate. None of it is real, just theory and debate. They enjoy their own freedom of speech and expression but take absolutely NO responsibility for what they say or do.

Astounding! The world has gone completely mad!!!!

Who financially supports an institution like this? Who would send their children there for someone like this man to ‘educated’.

As Darleen at Darleen’s Place suggested, he could have at least had the common decency to blush!

Weblogging also wonders about the money.

Bill Kristol calls for the students at Columbia to boycott their administrators. I however think the problem is much wider in scope. The only thing these idiots care about is the ability to indoctrinate generation after generation of similarly obtuse leftist pansies. Take away the money and you will watch the proselytizing teacher dry up an blow away. Thus I am squarely on the side of those in the business community boycotting the University.

Unfortunately, while Murtha continues to commit cold-blooded treason (look it up - its treason), he continues to be a very wealthy man who represents the 12th District of Pennsylvania. He has himself a pretty nice life. The Marines who he cold-bloodedly accused in order to further his political career have spent two years in prison awaiting trial, have had their exemplary careers and reputations ruined and fought and suffered to defend our country only to be convicted as ‘cold-blooded murders’ in the court of public opinion because of the words of a self-serving Congressman.

Even though these fine, brave Marines are being acquitted of wrong doing, the average citizen still thinks they’re guilty. They still think they are guilty because unless you read the blogs you don’t ever hear about their trials, the lack of evidence of guilt, the evidence that they were being engaged in battle at the time of the ‘incident’ and the FACT that they were railroaded and used as scapegoats for the purpose of Murtha’s attempt to get appointed House Leader.

And when confronted his only comment was something to the effect that the trial isn’t completely over. Then he ran and hid. Or should I say, redeployed into the elevator.

He. Makes. Me. ILL.

But remember, we get what we vote for. He was voted back into office even after these facts about him became public knowledge. It makes me wonder if anyone is paying attention or maybe overlooking a little something like undermining the fabric of our nation is okay when he lines enough pockets to get his votes.

Rot in hell John Murtha for what you did to our Marines. You silly, ridiculous, cowardly old man! Rot. In. Hell.

It turns out that Columbia University has a long history of antisemitism and aligning itself with the enemies of the United States. Seventy years ago the University made headlines by inviting Adolf Hitler to speak at the University.

Columbia Invites Hitler to Campus

Seventy years before this week’s invitation to Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Columbia rolled out the red carpet for a senior official of Adolf Hitler’s regime. The invitation to Iran’s leader may seem less surprising, but no less disturbing, when one recalls that in 1933, Columbia president Nicholas Murray Butler invited Nazi Germany’s ambassador to the United States, Hans Luther, to speak on campus, and also hosted a reception for him. Luther represented “the government of a friendly people,” Butler insisted. He was “entitled to be received … with the greatest courtesy and respect.” Ambassador Luther’s speech focused on what he characterized as Hitler’s peaceful intentions. Students who criticized the Luther invitation were derided as “ill-mannered children” by the director of Columbia’s Institute of Arts and Sciences.

Columbia also insisted on maintaining friendly relations with Nazi-controlled German universities. While Williams College terminated its program of student exchanges with Nazi Germany, Columbia and other universities declined to do likewise. Columbia refused to pull out even after a German official candidly asserted that his country’s students were being sent abroad to serve as “political soldiers of the Reich.”

In 1936, the Columbia administration announced it would send a delegate to Nazi Germany to take part in the 550th anniversary celebration of the University of Heidelberg. This, despite the fact that Heidelberg already had been purged of Jewish faculty members, instituted a Nazi curriculum, and hosted a burning of books by Jewish authors. Prof. Arthur Remy, who served as Columbia’s delegate to the Heidelberg event, later remarked that the reception at which chief book-burner Josef Goebbels presided was “very enjoyable.”

Did you read that? That’s outrageous. I suppose the effete elite was as deranged then as they are now. They still don’t understand the realities of the world. Columbia sent a delegate to an anniversary celebration at the University of Heidelberg even after that institution had been purged of Jewish faculty members, instituted a Nazi curriculum and burned the books of Jewish authors. The Columbia University delegate enjoyed the company of Josef Goebbels.

I was disturbed to read in Inside Higher Education (Nov. 27) that Columbia provost Alan Brinkley appears more concerned with protecting the institution’s reputation than with rectifying a similar injustice Butler committed against Robert Burke, CC ‘38. Butler had Burke expelled for leading pickets protesting the Columbia administration’s insistence on sending a delegate and friendly greetings to a major propaganda festival the Nazi leadership orchestrated in 1936 in Germany, the 550th anniversary celebration of Heidelberg University. Although he was a fine student and had been elected president of his class, Burke was never readmitted.

Even when there was no more denying what was happening in Nazi Germany, the administration of Columbia refused to accept responsibility for their actions that helped the propaganda ministry of the Nazis. Instead they justified and minimized the role they played.

They apparently have learned nothing from the mistakes of their past.

Everyone in this country should know the history of Columbia University. I hope people are outraged enough to withdraw any financial support they give to the university. I hope Columbia University doesn’t get a dime of federal funding.

As everyone surely knows by now, Columbia University is giving legitimacy to Iranian President Maumoud Ahmadinejad. Hopefully, you also know that Ahmadinejad is a self-avowed enemy of the United States. So Columbia University is welcoming an enemy of our own country to come and speak to their faculty, staff and students.

Aren’t they just oh so open minded.

Well, if they are so supportive of hate-speech, I suggest the Grand Master of the Klu Klux Klan for their next big event. Too bad Hitler is dead, they could have him over for a nice tete-a-tete to discuss the pros and cons of ‘the final solution’. That would be just fascinating!

I can see them all sitting there with their hands clasped, with bated breath and hanging on his every word. They won’t understand a word, but they’ll never admit that. They will appear to be a captive audience. All for the sake of patting themselves on their collective backs at what good members of the effete elite they are.

Iranians are killing our Soldiers in Iraq. Our Soldiers have been fighting Iranians there for years. Iran is providing increasingly advanced weapons to use against our Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Ahmadinejad had made no secret of his commitment to destroying us and Israel. He calls us the ‘big satan’ and Israel the ‘little satan’. In fact, he has stated he will destroy any Western civilization that doesn’t bow down to allah. He supports Hezbullah in their on-going battle against the government of Lebanon and the murder of Israelis. He support Hamas and any other muslim organization that is committed to creating and perpetuating chaos and destruction against the Western world.

He is an enemy of our country. He is an enemy of our way of life. He is an enemy of Western civilization.

The powers that be at Columbia think they are in control of this event with Ahmadinijad. They aren’t. He’s in control. He drags professors out of universities in Iran and has them hung. He has declared he will rid the world of their kind. He’s been doing just that in Iran. The useful idiots of Columbia think this is an exercise in intellectual debate. What is really is, is Ahmadinijad using them to show the world that he can walk right into an American institution and defy the United States of America. It will give him a lot of cache in his world. It feeds his megalomania. It undermines our image of strength in the world.

It leads us closer to a conflict we won’t be able to avoid.

To give succor to an enemy of one’s own country is the definition of sedition. This is certainly giving succor to our enemy. It is very close to giving aid and comfort to our enemy, which is the definition of treason. Those at Columbia who are embracing Ahmadinejad and his hate-speech don’t care about that. They think its cool to commit sedition and/or treason because there are no personal consequences for doing so against the United States. They don’t see beyond their own arrogance and that naughty feeling of being rebellious against authority. It makes them feel all tingly inside. They don’t see the bigger picture, that its not about them. There is a lot more at stake than their holding court over students who are stuck listening to them so they can get their degrees.

Columbia University should not get another dime of federal funding. Period. I personally do not want a penny of the income tax I pay to go towards this sort of courting the enemy. Any Jewish alumni should withdraw any and all financial support from the university. For that matter, any American should withdraw financial support from Columbia. It is obviously an institution that does not support the country that supports it.

They really will do whatever they can to shut down other people’s free speech, even if it means screeching over them, and keep you from hearing testimony they don’t want you to hear.

Remember - this is the group that gave $600,000 to the insurgents in Iraq who are fighting our Troops. They were helped with this by Congressman Waxman. These are traitors to our country and should be treated as such.

This is unbelievable!

The leftards are wanting the American Taliban, John Walker Lindh, AKA Abdul Hamid set free. I just heard a segment on Fox news in which some leftards were actually defending this guy and saying he was just ‘misguided’. MISGUIDED.

They argue that he should be let free because he didn’t really join that Taliban to fight AGAINST Americans but to fight against the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan. They leave out the fact that he DID fight against Americans and did not own up to being American until he was captured.

The LA Times (of course!) says it’s ‘unfortunate’ that he’s been ‘labeled the American Taliban’. They call him ‘Our Talib’. Isn’t that cute? And isn’t that familiar? And doesn’t that make him seem cute and cuddly?

Our Talib - give me a break. Have they forgotten that the Taliban shoots people in the back of the head as entertainment for stadiums of people for ‘crimes’ like letting their ankle show in public? That’s not so cuddly or cute.

These are the very same people who want the heads of our Troops for any real or perceived misdeeds - without the benefit of trial or even a minimal amount of evidence. These are the same people who scream bloody murder if they perceive our Troops might even defend themselves.

What kind of mind does it take to have sympathy for enemy combatants while slandering our Warriors at every turn? What do they think will happen to them should the Taliban take up house next door to them?

There are enemy combatants that have been let go from Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo Bay that are at home with their families, healthy and well enough to bad-mouth America to the leftist media. Those guys have American blood on their hands and they get more sympathy and spend less time in jail than our Marines who were ACCUSED of defending themselves in Haditha.

Shame on America for that.

Our enemy is encouraging this kind of twisted thinking all the while laughing at us. They will kill us and/or we will find ourselves in a position of having to fight for our very way of life in the not so distant future. We can thank this kind of craziness for the escalating boldness of our enemies.

(CNSNews.com) - The parents of a U.S. Marine accused of killing three Iraqis execution-style in Haditha in late 2005 said Thursday they would ask Congress to censure Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) for saying that the Marines “overreacted” during the incident and killed civilians “in cold blood.”

“It’s too late for an apology,” Darryl Sharratt of Canonsburg, Pa., told Cybercast News Service after the hearing officer in the case, Lt. Col. Paul Ware, released an 18-page report recommending that all charges against Sharratt’s son, Lance Cpl. Justin Sharratt, be dismissed because his actions “were in accord with the rules of engagement and use of force.”

Sharratt said that he, his wife Theresa and other supporters of their 22-year-old son were planning to visit Martha’s office, and “we’re going to ask for more than an apology.”

“We need this man censured by our Congress,” he said, because “he denied my son — and the other Marines involved — their constitutional rights to a fair trial and a presumption of innocence.”

The Saboteur John Murtha owes these Marines and the American people a LOT more than an apology!! Perhaps they should get some of the kick-back pork money Murtha has made all his years in Congress at the expense of the people of Pennsylvania.

Murtha claims to have been a Marine at one point. The problem I have with his claim is that ‘once a Marine always a Marine’. My father was a Marine in World War II and Murtha is no Marine.

I agree with Teach at the Pirate’s Cove, Murtha should be impeached for using his office to score political points at the expense of our Marines during a time of war. He had the power of his office and these Marines suffered the consequences of his political ambition.

It is criminal that he is not impeached.

Murtha is a traitor to the country. He puts his own ambition and self interest ahead of the good of the country. He is not a representative of the people. His only interest is in enriching himself by whatever means necessary.

I think what aggravates me the most is that when Murtha made his accusations back in 2005 it all all over the news. Everyone knew about the mean Marines who killed those people ‘in cold blood’. Now, two years later, the Marines are cleared of the charges and not a peep of the charges being dismissed is on the news.

The accusation is front page news. The acquittal is a paragraph hidden in the bowels of the news somewhere.

What do you get when you have an aging hippie who is financially well off enough that she never has to grow up and face real life grown up problems? Mix in whopping doses of naivety and narcissism. Sprinkle liberally (pun intended) with years of indoctrination into communist and Marxist ideology. Fold in a woman who doesn’t have enough to do and has to find ’causes’ to fill her time and to feel fulfilled as a person. Finally, add to that numerous opportunities for attention grabbing media coverage following an unprecedented attack on the United States of America and the resulting war.

What you get is the perfect recipe for Medea Benjamin.

I saw this woman debating on television last night. She was, as always, speaking for the people of the United States. She said the people want our troops out of the Middle East right now. She said the people are angry about the war. She said the troops are angry about the war. She said the troops do not want to fight. She said a lot of things, speaking for the people and for our troops.

As I listened to her limited abilities to express her obvious self-absorption and communist agenda, I thought to myself, ‘Who does she think she is? She doesn’t speak for me.’

Medea Benjamin is pretty much a comic figure that no one takes seriously. Still I thought I’d find out a little more about who she is.

Medea started Code Pink as a spin-off of the coded terror alert system. She, along with a handful of other women, started Code Pink in November 2002 as a venue to stage protests against the war and all wars. Like all good narcissists, they insert themselves in any and every high-profile situation to call attention to themselves. The group is known for anti-war, anti-American and anti-military rhetoric, staging protests in as disruptive ways as they can and asking for large donations.

In truth, Benjamin was organizing riots and staging protest long before 9/11. However, the advent of our acknowledgment of the war being waged against us gave her a cause that she could focus her adolescent trouble-making efforts on.

Medea was born Susan Benjamin in 1952. She started college at Tuffs University but dropped out during her first year. While she attended Tuffs she renamed herself Medea after the Greek mythological character.

Interestingly, the Greek Medea was born of a wealthy family and had an attitude of self-importance and elitism. She murdered her two children in an act of revenge against her husband. This is the character that Susan Benjamin related to so much that she took her name. That seems so fitting.

After dropping out of college she hitchhiked across Europe and Africa. She then married her first husband and lived in Cuba during that marriage writing for a Cuban newspaper. She has said that the communist economic and social structure in Cuba was a good fit for her. Of course, as a well-to-do American, she wasn’t necessarily subjected to what it’s like for people at the lower end of that economic and social structure.

She then married her current husband, Kevin Danaher. They seem to have strong Marists beliefs in common.

Medea claims her anti-war activities are out of concern for our Troops. In reality, she views the American military as her enemy. She openly supports terrorists organizations that are fighting our Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. In January 2005 Code Pink openly donated $600,000 in supplies to terrorists fighting our troops in Fallujah, Iraq. They referred to American Soldiers as ‘killers’ on their website.

So while saying one thing (’I do this to get our Troops out of harms way’) she does another (giving aid and comfort and supplies to those who are fighting against our Troops). She demands her right to freedom of speech while shouting down anyone who attempts to speak a different point of view. She uses the American system of freedom to fight against that very system.

She most certainly does not speak for me.

Maybe she isn’t such a comic figure after all. Maybe she’s an enemy of our country.

Medea apparently think being arrested is funny. Maybe she should be charged, arrested and tried for treason. I wonder how much fun she’d think that was.
