Representative John Murtha is trying his best to back track on his statement that Pennsylvanians are racists. Seeing as he has become a wealthy man in his many years representing the people of Pennsylvania in Washington, you’d think he’d have been a little more careful in how he refers to his own people.

“There’s no question Western Pennsylvania is a racist area,” said Mr. Murtha.

John Murtha is the Congressman who came to national attention when he accused American Marines of ‘cold blooded murder’ in what came to be known as the Haditha incident. He shamed himself, or at least should have, by making that allegation with no foundation for it what so ever. Those Marines became known as the Haditha Marines, were imprisoned, slandered and tried for murder. All on the word of Murtha. They were basically used as a political tool by the democats to further their anti-war agenda. Those Marines were eventually acquitted of all wrong doing. But not before they had lost two years of freedom, had their reputations ruined and lost their careers.

Murtha has never apologized to the Marines and their families for his accusations and the resulting fall out from his statements.

I was surprised he was able to maintain his position in office following that entire episode. He seems to feel he is immune from consequences. That is even more evidenced by his apparently inability to keep himself from running his silly mouth.

Pennsylvanians have really been beaten up pretty badly by the democrats in this campaign. First, Barack Obama talks about them to a bunch of wealthy supporters in San Francisco. He refers to them as bitter people who cling to their Bibles and guns. Now, their own Representative refers to them as racists.

And yet, they have continued to vote Murtha back into office for 17 terms and Obama is ahead in the polls there!

There’s no telling how this will play out in the Presidential election. Pennsylvanians may vote democrat just to prove the democrats wrong about them. Or, they’ll be angry about the image these politicians are portraying of them and tell them both to go home. Who knows.

It could very well be time for Murtha to retire. He’s done enough damage.

John Murtha, known to be one of the most disgusting Congressmen in Congress (that’s my opinion at least) introduced Hillary Clinton to to the AFL-CIO’s Building Trades National Legislative Conference by talking about how old John McCain is. John Murtha is actually four years older than McCain, but he’s never been one to exhibit insight or self awareness.

Murtha to McCain:

“I’ve served with seven presidents,” Murtha told a union audience. “When they come in, they all make mistakes. They all get older.”

“This one guy running is about as old as me,” he said, drawing laughter and applause. “Let me tell you something, it’s no old man’s job.”

McCain responded:

“All I can tell you is that I admire and respect Jack Murtha. Speak for yourself, Jack. I’m doing fine. Thanks.”

I understand that as a politician McCain has to say things like ‘I admire and respect the Pig Jack Murtha’. I know he didn’t say ‘pig’, but I did. I’m not a politician so I don’t have to be that diplomatic. I don’t admire and/or respect The Traitor Jack Murtha. I don’t like him at all and I’m tired of him pocketing as much of my tax dollars and he can fit in his piggy pockets (aka the King of Pork).

The difference in John Murtha’s and John McCain’s ability to handle the Presidency in their seventies is as different as their performances in the Senate and Congress. Even more to the point, its as difference as their performance under fire in Vietnam. McCain will have NO PROBLEM handling the Presidency.

The world has moved on from the big scandal of the Battle of Iraq since the Old Media and the Congressman from Pennsylvania John ‘The Saboteur’ Murtha declared to the world that our Marines committed ‘cold blooded murder’. It seemed that everyone was interested in the allegations and took them as fact. It seems that no one is particularly interested in the dismissal of the charges against the Marines. I still hear people today refer to Haditha as thought it is synonymous with My Lai of the Vietnam war and a descriptive word used for the corruption and evil ways of our Troops.

Just like with most sensational crimes, the allegations are on the front page and the dismissal of charges is buried deep in the news if its reported at all. The damage is done. The average person believes that it happened because that is what was reported as fact and the world has moved on. Meanwhile, these Marines have had their reputations, their freedom, their careers, their financial well-being and more taken from them during two years of investigations.

The final arbiter in the Haditha matter has dismissed twelve charges of unpremeditated murder as well as separate charges of soliciting another to commit an offense and making false official statements. This is the last word on the subject. This removes the onus that war crimes were committed by any of the American Marines who fought the long hard battle they were drawn into that day in Haditha. They should receive metals. Instead they were put into prison and endured slander at the hands of the media and a United States Congressman. It served as a venue to help Murtha in his career hopes of getting a Democratic majority in Congress and then for him to be the Majority Leader. All those lives damaged and the good name of our Marines tainted for Murtha’s political ambitions.

Attorneys Neil Puckett and Mark Zaid, in Washington, D.C., co-counsels for SSgt Wuterich, responded:

‘The good news is that SSgt Wuterich (and all of the Marines, for that matter), have been forever cleared of murder charges. That means that there is (and never was) any evidence to support Congressman Murtha’s and Time magazine’s allegations of these Marines killing Iraqis ‘in cold blood.’

‘The bad news is that the extensive pretrial investigation and legal analysis conducted by an experienced military judge was essentially ignored. It is always disappointing when professional military prosecutors profess to want to do the right thing by setting up the system to work, and then ignore its results because they refuse to give Marines under attack in combat the benefit of the doubt that they were responding according to their training. We are confident that a military jury will acquit SSgt Wuterich of all remaining charges, because he is, in fact, not guilty.’

Pennsylvania Representative John ‘The Saboteur’ Murtha still trying to surrender. I guess he’ll be trying to find a way to surrender right up until we completely defeat our enemies. As Butch, at 123Beta says, its one of the many reasons I despise the man. Butch said it better than that though.

Murtha is chairman of House Appropriations defense subcommittee and declares, “We can’t win militarily.”

How despicable is that??? Chairman of the House defense subcommittees for appropriations and he declares that the United States is INCAPABLE OF WINNING A WAR AGAINST A BUNCH OF INSURGENTS!!!!

House Democrats’ point man in the war-funding showdown with the White House today dismissed U.S. military gains in Iraq and vowed to tighten the purse strings until President Bush accepts a pullout plan.

So this disgrace to our country says he admits we are winning, but since he’s in charge of the purse strings he’s going to deny funding for our Soldiers.

This shouldn’t surprise us considering he was willing to hang some Marines out to dry and accuse them of murder just so he could get more national attention in his hopes of being named majority leader. As usual, everything he says and does is about him and how it will get him what he wants. Its not about what’s best for our country.

The funding standoff will force the Pentagon to make budget cuts at bases in the U.S. to cover the costs of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, including sending furlough notices to as many as 100,000 civilian employees, White House press secretary Dana Perino said.

So, in order to further their own careers and cater to the lowest common denominator of their constituencies, they are willing to put people out of work, substantially weaken the United States military and further endanger our Troops! John Murtha has blood on his hands. He has the blood of our Troops and the Pendleton 8 Marines in particular on his hands.

Is this really what the people of Pennsylvania expect from their Representative? Is this how the people of Pennsylvania feel? Do they want a weaker America? Do they want an America that turns tail and runs from a bunch of hoodlums?

Does John Murtha REALLY represent the people of Pennsylvania?

Just out of curiosity. Does anyone know of any other time that Congress has threatened to cut funding to and reduce the size of our military during a time of war? Its almost unbelievable to me that they would play these kinds of games while our military is actively engaged in conflict.

Honestly, I have a hard time writing anything about John ‘The Saboteur’ Murtha. The man disgusts me. I’ve written pages and pages about his lies and just as many pages about the high profile the old media gave his lies.

I have asked people what they think about the Marines who were involved in the Haditha incident. Most don’t remember the name ‘Haditha’, but when you remind them of the incident they respond that the Marines went into the village and killed innocent women and children. For people who don’t play that close attention to the news, that is what they believe to be fact. That’s the accusation that a United States Congressman made against a group of Marines. That’s the news that had headlines for weeks, if not months. If you don’t follow it as closely as those of us with a special interest in it, that’s what they believe.

That is not the truth and it is not what happened.

The truth of the Marines’ story may or may not be a quick comment hidden on page 15 of the paper. Its just a footnote. The accusation was the news.

John Murtha lied to the people of the United States. He lied about the Marines. He wanted to garner favors from his party when they took power in November. He wanted to be Majority Leader so he stood up before the American people and accused our Marines of murdering civilians in ‘cold blood’. Those Marines careers were ruined, their reputations stained and they spent two years in prison awaiting their court martials. On a party-wide scale, the purpose was to use that as a scandal against the President. On a personal level, those Marines were forced to make those sacrifices to further the career of a corrupt career politician.

Diana Irey worked hard to unseat Murtha in the last election. Her campaign didn’t have a chance against Murtha’s money and connections. The people of Pennsylvania voted him back into office regardless of his traitorous words and actions. He is proof positive that enough money can buy you anything, even votes.

I read over at Michelle Malkin that another GOP candidate is poised to take on Murtha.

A career Army member left the service two years short of retirement to move here and try his hand at politics by challenging longtime Democratic U.S. Rep. John Murtha.

First-time candidate William T. Russell, 45, a Republican, acknowledged that taking on a popular, 18-term congressman in the 2008 election will be “an uphill battle.”

“But it’s one that must be fought,” Russell told the Tribune-Democrat in Johnstown.

Russell plans to formally announce his candidacy within weeks. Murtha has declined comment on the challenge.

Murtha, 75, has served in the House since 1974 and is known for bringing money and jobs — especially in the defense industries — to his district in rural Pennsylvania. A decorated Vietnam veteran and Marine Reserves colonel who previously had been hawkish on war issues, Murtha has criticized the Iraq war and pushed for the troops to be brought home. He became chairman of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee last year.

Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey ran against Murtha last year, trying to capitalize on the backlash against Murtha’s views among conservatives. She was soundly beaten in the general election.

Russell, who moved from the Washington, D.C., area to Murtha’s district specifically to take on the congressman, has a long Army and Army Reserve career that includes tours of duty in the Balkans and both Iraq wars. He and his wife, Kasia, were in the Pentagon when a hijacked airliner slammed into the building on Sept. 11, 2001. Both escaped unhurt.

Murtha’s call for troop withdrawal from Iraq “is just flat-out wrong,” Russell said. Like Irey, Russell also criticized Murtha’s public allegations that unnamed U.S. soldiers committed “cold-blooded murder and war crimes” against innocent Iraqi civilians in Haditha in 2005.

A small-business owner, Russell said he wants a local economy dependent on the free market. But he acknowledges some jobs may be lost if government contracts disappear.

At some point, surely, the good people of the 12th District of Pennsylvania will have had enough of the shame that is John Murtha.

…. and Alan Colmes on Hannity & Colmes uses his usual sophomoric debating tactics to ‘carry water’ for Murtha. On the democratic side of the debate Jane Fleming Kleeb did the usual tactical maneuver of changing the subject and spinning the story by accusing Sean Hannity and Jason Mattera (Young America’s Foundation) of changing the subject and spinning the story. Unfortunately, while Murtha continues to commit cold-blooded treason (look it up - its treason), he continues to be a very wealthy man who represents the 12th District of Pennsylvania. He has himself a pretty nice life. The Marines who he cold-bloodedly accused in order to further his political career have spent two years in prison awaiting trial, have had their exemplary careers and reputations ruined and fought and suffered to defend our country only to be convicted as ‘cold-blooded murders’ in the court of public opinion because of the words of a self-serving Congressman.

Even though these fine, brave Marines are being acquitted of wrong doing, the average citizen still thinks they’re guilty. They still think they are guilty because unless you read the blogs you don’t ever hear about their trials, the lack of evidence of guilt, the evidence that they were being engaged in battle at the time of the ‘incident’ and the FACT that they were railroaded and used as scapegoats for the purpose of Murtha’s attempt to get appointed House Leader.

And when confronted his only comment was something to the effect that the trial isn’t completely over. Then he ran and hid. Or should I say, redeployed into the elevator.

He. Makes. Me. ILL.

But remember, we get what we vote for. He was voted back into office even after these facts about him became public knowledge. It makes me wonder if anyone is paying attention or maybe overlooking a little something like undermining the fabric of our nation is okay when he lines enough pockets to get his votes.

Rot in hell John Murtha for what you did to our Marines. You silly, ridiculous, cowardly old man! Rot. In. Hell.

The Haditha Marines, otherwise known as the Pendleton 8, have been locked up since Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha declared they were guilty of ‘cold blooded murder’ in 2005.

Apparently, Murtha believes they should be guilty until proved innocent. Surely, he wouldn’t have used the lives of these Marine war veterans, the morale of our Armed Forces in general and the well-being of our national security for his own political gain. Surely not!

But now, those very same Marines that Murtha stood up in front of the world and declared to be out of control killers, are being exonerated and cleared of the charges against them.

Just out of curiosity, how will Murtha make amends for what he’s put these Marines and their families through? Will he make sure they get as much publicity for their acquittals as he did for his presumption of guilty? Will he ask for forgiveness for his mind-boggling greed and power hunger? Will he apologize to the country for undermining our strength as a nation by damaging the morale of our Troops and announcing to the world that we will eat our own for personal gain?

John Murtha is guilty of cold-blooded destruction of the lives of these heroic Marines! Our nation should hang its head in shame for what we allowed to be done to these young men to voluntarily went into harms way to serve their country. Our enemies are treated better.

How will he undo the damage he has done to these young mens’ lives and careers? How will he give those young men these past two years back?

President Bush, you need to intervene and praise these Marines and chastise Murtha for his irresponsible actions against our Armed Forces and against our country.

Are you outraged? You should be! Write about this on your blog and spread the story until Murtha can no longer ignore the consequences of his behavior. Write your Senator and Congressmen and demand Justice for our Marines. Write President Bush and let him know that the American people will not stand for our Men at Arms being slandered and mistreated at the hands of our elected officials.

After two years in military prison and being publicly convicted of inhumane crimes by Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha, Lance Cpl. Justin Sharratt has been cleared of the charges Murtha made against him.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A general dropped all charges Thursday against a Marine who had been accused of killing three Iraqi brothers in response to a roadside bomb attack in Haditha in 2005.

“The evidence does not support a referral to a court-martial,” Lt. Gen. James Mattis wrote in his written decision.

Lance Cpl. Justin L. Sharratt, 22, had been charged with the murder in the deaths of three of those killed after the bomb attack Nov. 19, 2005.

The decision to drop the charges followed an earlier recommendation from a hearing officer who listened to evidence in the case. Under military law, a commanding general has total jurisdiction over a case.

In his recommendation, Lt. Col. Paul Ware said murder charges brought against Sharratt were based on unreliable witness accounts, poor forensic evidence and questionable legal theories.

“The government version is unsupported by independent evidence,” Ware wrote in an 18-page report. “To believe the government version of facts is to disregard clear and convincing evidence to the contrary.”

Sharratt spent all this time in prison awaiting a court martial for a crime he didn’t commit. A good Marine was punished for nothing. Murtha made sure he was shamed in front of the entire country. Will Murtha have to answer for that?

Murtha is so arrogant he doesn’t think he has to answer for anything. He is above the law, in his mind. He hasn’t even apologized for what he’s done to these Marines!!!

(CNSNews.com) - The parents of a U.S. Marine accused of killing three Iraqis execution-style in Haditha in late 2005 said Thursday they would ask Congress to censure Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) for saying that the Marines “overreacted” during the incident and killed civilians “in cold blood.”

“It’s too late for an apology,” Darryl Sharratt of Canonsburg, Pa., told Cybercast News Service after the hearing officer in the case, Lt. Col. Paul Ware, released an 18-page report recommending that all charges against Sharratt’s son, Lance Cpl. Justin Sharratt, be dismissed because his actions “were in accord with the rules of engagement and use of force.”

Sharratt said that he, his wife Theresa and other supporters of their 22-year-old son were planning to visit Martha’s office, and “we’re going to ask for more than an apology.”

“We need this man censured by our Congress,” he said, because “he denied my son — and the other Marines involved — their constitutional rights to a fair trial and a presumption of innocence.”

The Saboteur John Murtha owes these Marines and the American people a LOT more than an apology!! Perhaps they should get some of the kick-back pork money Murtha has made all his years in Congress at the expense of the people of Pennsylvania.

Murtha claims to have been a Marine at one point. The problem I have with his claim is that ‘once a Marine always a Marine’. My father was a Marine in World War II and Murtha is no Marine.

I agree with Teach at the Pirate’s Cove, Murtha should be impeached for using his office to score political points at the expense of our Marines during a time of war. He had the power of his office and these Marines suffered the consequences of his political ambition.

It is criminal that he is not impeached.

Murtha is a traitor to the country. He puts his own ambition and self interest ahead of the good of the country. He is not a representative of the people. His only interest is in enriching himself by whatever means necessary.

I think what aggravates me the most is that when Murtha made his accusations back in 2005 it all all over the news. Everyone knew about the mean Marines who killed those people ‘in cold blood’. Now, two years later, the Marines are cleared of the charges and not a peep of the charges being dismissed is on the news.

The accusation is front page news. The acquittal is a paragraph hidden in the bowels of the news somewhere.

The future Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, is endorsing The Saboteur John Murtha for House Majority Leader.

As a Republic (not a democracy) we have the privilege to vote for and elect our representative government. Unlike some previous elections, the people who did not get the representatives they voted for are not screaming and carrying on about the election being ’stolen’ or that it was unfair somehow. Whaaaaa-waaa-waaa.

Instead, most of us understand that this is the way a Republic works. The majority of the people spoke - even in the races that had razor slim margins.

This is a perfect example of you get the government you deserve.

The problem is, do the troops deserve this? I don’t think so. But this is what we are stuck with for a while.

The dems have been gloating and grinning from ear to ear all the while backtracking on their demands for immediate withdrawal of troops. Now they are going to form a committee to form a committee to select a sub-committee to consider what committee should oversee a committee that will form a committee to start considering what might should be done in Iraq. That committee will look at all the options and submit it to a committee that will consider if it is ready for submiting to a committee that will evaluate it before sending it to the committee that will evaluate it before submitting it to the committee that will approve it before submitting it to the committee that will submit it to the House for approval before voting on whether or not to consider those options. Then once the options are figured all out, they will start the committee dance with culling the options down to the most viable. And on and on.

In the meantime, Ms. Pelosi is backing the man who called our troops ‘cold blooded killers’. The man who the democrats hail as their ‘war hero’, but who won’t allow his military records to be made public.

But it’s not about who’s best for the job. It’s about favors and personalities.

The unexpected move signaled the sizable value Pelosi gives to personal loyalty and personality preferences. Hoyer competed with her in 2001 for the post of House minority whip, while Murtha managed her winning campaign. Pelosi has also all but decided she will not name the ranking Democrat on the House intelligence committee, Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) to chair that panel next year, a decision pregnant with personal animus. [source]

“I salute your courageous leadership that changed the national debate and helped make Iraq the central issue of this historic election. It was surely a dark day for the Bush Administration when you spoke truth to power,” she wrote. “Your strong voice for national security, the war on terror and Iraq provides genuine leadership for our party, and I count on you to lead on these vital issues.”

Murtha responded, “I am deeply gratified to receive the support of Speaker Pelosi, a tireless advocate for change and a true leader for our Party and our country.”

All Murtha had to do was call the troops ‘cold blooded murderers’ and call for immediate redeployment of the troops to Okinawa

Roll Call reported last year that Murtha “reportedly leaned on U.S. Navy officials to sign a contract to transfer the Hunters Point Shipyard to the city of San Francisco.” Pelosi’s nephew, Laurence Pelosi, was an executive of the company that owned the rights to the land.

And now wouldn’t you know it– Nancy Pelosi, the liberal’s liberal– (and soon to be House Speaker), is endorsing Jack Murtha over Steny Hoyer to be the next Majority Leader of the House of Representatives.

What better way to assuage fears about Democrats being too dovish and anti-military than to back America’s foremost spokesman for cut and run — who once famously pronounced Haditha a case of murder “in cold blood” while the investigation was still ongoing?

John Murtha isn’t the only democrat who dishonors our troops.

There’s a lot of talk about the Republican seats up for grabs - what about democrat seats? Are any of them being challenged? In the case of Jihad Jack Murtha he’s not even acknowledging that he has an opponent. He is that accustomed to the power and money he has attained in his 33 years in Congress. He doesn’t believe the people of Pennsylvania have the gall to vote him out of office.

It is a Diana vs. Goliath fight. But hey, it’s nice when the little guy wins. Not to mention, it’s time for Mumbling Murtha to retire with the multi-millions he’s made while in Congress standing on the necks of the people of Pennsylvania.
